What We Are Looking For

National University System is currently seeking a dynamic individual to become part of our Human Resources team as the Director, HR Business Partner.

The Director, HRBP serves as a strategic and hands-on contributor to the HR function with a focus relationship building, workplace trends and analytics while anticipating HR needs in a rapid-growth environment.  This role will support HRBP initiatives; ensuring efficient, scalable, and customer-centric services to internal and external clients. This is a unique opportunity to provide strategic HR support internally and as an HR services provider to a third party.  This role is positioned within a highly functioning HR team with a focus on relationships, culture, talent development, data interpretation, goals, and initiatives.

This role will have a client group to support in addition to supervisory responsibilities over the HRBP function.  Supervisory responsibilities include overseeing day-to-day operations of the HRBP team and ensure HRBP activities align with organizational objectives with a consultative approach. 

Essential Functions

  • A proven track record of combining a deep understanding of the business (including goals, strategies, culture, workforce planning, etc.) with a well-developed consultative approach and partner with business leadership in creating and implementing solutions which positively help the business achieve its objectives.
  • Serving as a partner with the business to develop and execute people initiatives by enabling efficient, scalable and customer-centric operations; as well as driving a culture of employee engagement.
  • Lead HR initiatives at scale, from need identification to implementation, considering the unique needs of our internal customers and external customers.
  • Maintains an in-depth understanding of workplace trends within the groups, the thematic employee related challenges experienced across the organization and opportunities for organizational improvement. Synthesizes, analyzes and reports the information to HR and unit leadership.
  • Partner with the Learning & Development/Organizational Development teams to create and deliver management training in areas including interviewing, performance management, discipline and policies and procedures.
  • Executes all duties and functions of an HRBP within the HR team and assigned client group which includes management of employee relations, support of client group initiatives (talent development, succession strategies), consult with leaders and employees, and obtain desired outcomes and agreed upon objectives.
  • Collaborates with HR team and assigned business unit(s).
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Reasonable and consistent attendance to fulfill requirements of the position

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of organizational development, change management, employee relations, employee development and business management concepts.
  • Proficient to advanced computer skills (MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Experience as an HR services provider to 3rd party organizations.
  • Demonstrated success in building relationships with client group leaders to ensure a strong partnership, trust, and aligned vision of success.
  • Well-developed verbal and written communication skills and ability to present to a group of leaders and employees
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task between tactical processes and execution of strategic initiatives.
  • Aptitude for analyzing and interpret data.
  • Ability to work extended hours to include evening and weekends.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word and other applications in the Microsoft Office suite

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in HR or business related field; Master’s preferred
  • 10+ years HR related experience with 2-5 years’ experience in a strategic HR role and supervisory experience
  • PHR/SPHR strongly preferred
  • Experience in higher education preferred
  • Experience working in a technology-driven enterprise preferred, with a remote/distributed workforce
  • All skills, abilities and education will be considered for minimum qualifications.

Working Conditions

This position operates in a professional remote office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment.
