Position Summary:

This position is responsible for the processing of student charges and funding in accordance with company policies and procedures.  Team members must perform all duties accurately and efficiently. Fiscal operation specialists are responsible for the smooth flow of funds between NCU, the Department of Education, and students. In addition, team members maintain tuition and fee postings.  They ensure student ledger accuracy and send notifications to students as needed.

Essential Functions:

  • Posts funds to student accounts in an accurate and timely manner
  • Sends notification of disbursements to students
  • Generates student billing and reviews tuition and fees for accuracy
  • Monitors and communicates declined transactions
  • Issues living stipend disbursements
  • Reviews and authorizes student tuition credits or refunds to credit card/bank account
  • Responsible for G5 drawdowns and G5 activity
  • Ensures compliance with all federal, state, and institutional regulations, policies and procedures
  • Reviews and finalizes data for accuracy in preparation for annual 1098-T forms and Canadian tax forms
  • Reviews and executes annual tuition increase and monitors preferred tuition rates
  • Ensures the timely processing of student aid refunds
  • Reasonable and consistent attendance to fulfill requirements of the position
  • Other duties as assigned

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field preferred
  • Minimum of one (1) year of financial or accounting experience preferred
  • Experience with the online delivery of education preferred
  • Experience with non-term semesters strongly desired
  • Experience in higher education preferred
  • Experience working in a technology-driven enterprise preferred
  • All skills, abilities, and education will be considered for minimum qualifications

 Competencies/Technical/Functional Skills:

  • Knowledge of available private, state, and federal financial aid programs.
  • Knowledge of academic and business workings of a higher education institution.
  • Knowledge of University policies and procedures.
  • Skill in oral and written communication.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word and other applications in the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Skill in utilizing technology, including ability to navigate web sites, perform word processing, create spreadsheets, send e-mail and electronic messages.
  • Ability to work with and apply mathematical and accounting principles
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize.
  • Ability to use and facilitate online communication using email and/or other technology-based communication media.
  • Ability to problem-solve.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to prepare letters, reports, and business correspondence.
  • Highly organized and detail oriented.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Must be able to consistently display the highest level of integrity
