What We Are Looking For 

NEP is currently seeking a dynamic individual to become part of our Human Resources team as the Payroll Administrator.

The Payroll Administrator is solely responsible for the accurate delivery of biweekly payroll services including updating employee information, time and attendance, garnishments, deductions, taxes, recordkeeping, auditing, accounting reconciliation, and reporting.  The individual performs all activities related to multi-organization, multi-state payrolls using ADP Workforce Now and Enterprise eTIME, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations.

Essential Functions

  • Responsible for the preparation and processing of the biweekly payroll for all employees using ADP WorkforceNow and Enterprise eTIME.
  • Provides continuous process improvement within the payroll function.
  • Ensure timely and accurate calculation of approved timesheets, deductions, taxes, etc.
  • Create, review, and approve pay calculations with respect to all new hires, terminations, pay changes, retro increases, etc. as well as any updates to payroll records for tax withholding, benefit deductions, and direct deposit changes.
  • Coordinates the set up and maintenance of new state and local municipalities with ADP for reporting requirements.
  • First point of contact for any questions pertaining to time off balances as well as any questions regarding employees' pay.
  • Prepares and maintains standard and ad hoc reports by compiling information from various payroll and HR systems.
  • Run the monthly, quarterly, and year-end processes including W-2s.
  • Maintains payroll guidelines by updating policies and procedures.
  • Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, and advising management on needed actions.
  • Maintains employee confidence and protects payroll operations by keeping information confidential.
  • Works within the Human Resources team and partners with Accounting team.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by manager.
  • Reasonable and consistent attendance to fulfill requirements of the position

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Experience processing payroll with ADP WorkforceNow and Enterprise eTIME strongly preferred.
  • Experience with Workday preferred.
  • Experience processing payroll for multi-state and multi-company organizations preferred.
  • Advanced Excel skills required.
  • Effective customer service, interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills required.
  • Ability to react to change with agility.
  • Ability to work with and apply mathematical and accounting principles.
  • Ability to problem-solve in an effective manner.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word and other applications in the Microsoft Office suite
  • Candidates must:

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma required
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or a related field preferred
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification preferred
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of payroll experience required
  • Experience in higher education preferred
  • Experience working in a technology-driven enterprise preferred
  • All skills, abilities and education will be considered for minimum qualifications.

Working Conditions

This position operates in a remote, home office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, printers, and phones.
