Summary
Responsible for developing and maintaining professional development, quality assurance and training strategies to support professional development and University strategic initiatives related to Academic Advising and Enrollment teams. In summary, this role is responsible for the creation of a sustainable circle of learning through the timely delivery/development of professional development and training solutions, coaching and development, assessment, feedback and follow up with employees to support the Mission, Vision, and Values of the University. Additionally, the role is responsible for creating and maintaining course content and designing presentations.

Essential Functions:

  • Works with senior level business leaders in identifying changing needs, in the design, and development of training and professional development strategy and curricula. Continually seeks feedback and recommendations from senior level leaders on the impact on performance and meeting Student Services needs.
  • Responsible for the quality of classroom and technology-based training and professional development activities focused, but not limited to the Academic Advising and Enrollment teams, including needs assessment, curriculum development, course design/planning and logistics, content delivery, and development of related training materials.
  • Providing service excellence for our internal and external customers by instituting processes including “best practices” involved in optimizing the employee and student experience across the University while achieving overall University objectives.
  • Ensures effective assessment of learning through measuring reaction, learning, application and impact of program and materials.
  • Present information, using a variety of instructional techniques and formats such as role playing, simulations, team exercises, group discussions, videos, and lectures.
  • Efficient with digital and e-Learning creation and design.
  • Knowledgeable on innovative techniques to bring learning to life in a virtual environment.
  • Extract and compile learning content from a variety of sources such as subject matter experts from across the business, research, archived resources, and industry learning trends.
  • Passionate about innovating in the learning space to create new ways for busy adults to learn.
  • Maintains knowledge of instructional technologies by attending workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks and participating in professional societies.
  • Partners with Academic Advising and Enrollment leadership to identify employee performance gaps and identify options for addressing them through training, coaching or other related solutions.
  • Identifies needs and reviews recommendations for utilizing outside resources. Sources vendors and oversees quality of products and services delivered.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Reasonable and consistent attendance to fulfill requirement of the position.

Requirements:
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in learning and development or talent management required.
  • 3+ years of experience professionally facilitating training programs for small and large audiences.
  • 2+ years of experience applying instructional design methods and creating instructionally sound material.
  • Prior experience in the development of function or organization-wide training strategies required.
  • Prior experience directing, implementing, and maintaining technology-based training/distance learning programs for a geographically dispersed workforce strongly preferred.
  • Experience in higher education preferred.

  • Ability to use and facilitate online communications, including chat rooms, videoconferencing, webinars and other technology-based communication media.
  • Demonstrates ability in applying the adult learning theory, with demonstrated working knowledge of instructional design.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Highly organized and detail oriented.
  • Must have excellent team and relationship management, interpersonal, change management, conflict resolution, collaboration, creative problem solving, influencing, negotiating, consulting and coaching skills
  • Must have a proactive approach to problem solving and demonstrated the ability to be a strategic thinker.
  • Must have a firm understanding of the higher education industry and the regulatory agencies governing.
  • Ability to participate as an active team member of the team and organization and work toward a common goal. Contributes fully to the team effort and plays an integral part in the smooth running of teams without necessarily taking the lead.

  • Working knowledge, principles, and practices of office management/systems within a higher education environment, preferred. Demonstrates an understanding of underlying organizational issues.
  • Intermediate use of computers and Microsoft Office Suite Applications such as Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook.
  • Knowledge of SharePoint. Experience with Articulate preferred.
  • Work independently and foster a cooperative spirit within a large and/or small team of diverse cultures, while working in a fast-paced environment with multiple projects, deadlines, and frequently changing priorities.
Travel: Limited travel to campus sites may be required. Option for some remote work.
