SUMMARY

This position is responsible for the development and maintenance of technological solutions for the University. This position will primarily focus on the social networking software used by the University.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Technical Implementation

  • Exhibit proficiency in the technology they work in
  • Implement technical solutions as designed by senior team members in a timely manner
  • Troubleshoot problems as they arise with production systems as well as project work
  • Assist senior engineers and other team members as necessary to develop and design technical solutions
  • Provide peer review to other team members in a constructive manner
  • Communicate Project issues/risks to team as appropriate

 

Support Company and Department Goals

  • Display a commitment to deliver systems in a timely matter according to business need
  • Provide support as needed to production systems ensuring that both internal and external client’s needs are met
  • Aggressively work to provide solutions to challenges as they arise
  • Possess a positive and constructive attitude

 

Personal Development

  • Actively work to improve tech skills using available methods (books, seminars, etc)
  • Develop communication skills to communicate with team members and senior engineering staff
    • Continue to develop technical skills either by attending seminars (online, in person, etc.) or by purchasing books, etc.
    • Continue to challenge themselves by assisting development leads in monitoring project status, developing project plans and other project leadership roles so that they gain an understanding of the environment we are developing in.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Proficiency in web development fundamentals (HTML, CSS, JS, PHP, Git)
  • Experience with Drupal site building, theme development, and module development (all three is a major plus)
  • Experience with Drupal 8 and Composer is ideal
  • Experience with frontend libraries and processes (e.g. NPM, jQuery, TWIG, SASS, and PWAs))
  • Designs, codes, manages, troubleshoots, documents, and maintains application software, including large scale projects.
  • Experience with LAMP, Docker, and AWS Hosting
  • Familiar with Containerized Drupal hosting in AWS (ECS or EKS)
  • Experience with CloudFormation or other IaC technologies (i.e., Serverless, Terraform, etc.) a plus
  • Experience with C# or other Microsoft technologies a plus
  • Experience with DevOps, CI/CD tools and TDD a plus
  • Ensures effective inter- and intra-team communications
  • Coordinates and collaborates with coworkers, internal customers, and other project team members
  • Consults with end-users on system requirements; understands, recommends, and provides technical advice
  • Demonstrates excellent customer service skills and maintains a positive, professional image

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited university in computer science/programming or 3 years of experience as a software developer/engineer
  • Experience in higher education preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • All skills, abilities and education will be considered for minimum qualifications
