Senior UI Designer (Temporary Role)
Description
Senior UI Interface Designer
Moz’s UX team is seeking a highly creative and experienced Senior User Interface Designer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for redesigning the user interface (UI) of one of our legacy digital products, from concept to implementation. This is going to be a fun project and an exceptional portfolio piece for everyone involved!
As our Senior UI Designer, you are proven and proactive, and are excited to implement your process for achieving exceptional interfaces. You will work closely with a Senior UX Designer who will set you up with the information you need to empower your process and allow you to design with confidence along the way. You will also work closely with product managers, other UX designers, developers, and other stakeholders to see this project through to completion.
We’re hoping you get fired up about resolving user pain points through great design and are excited to include user feedback as a source of inspiration. When you are in between tasks, you are proactively improving processes within the company to make your work more efficient, or are working to gain a deeper understanding of industry and design trends, which will fuel your future decisions.
Responsibilities
We’re looking for Senior UI Designers that will
- Redesign and modernize a data-heavy digital product of ours from scratch, including the look and feel, layout, typography, color schemes, and iconography.
- Create a full project plan for a project like this, including goals and timelines
- Create design guidelines and a design system to ensure consistency across the redesigned platform.
- Work with a Senior UX Designer and own the entire design process from start to finish, including locking down requirements with stakeholders, wireframes, prototypes, and mockups, all the way to the final hand-off to developers, and to owning and measuring the success of their work
- Work with the dev team to ensure designs are implemented accurately and provide quality assurance on their designs, once implemented.
- Work with their PdM to balance customer needs, business objectives, and technological constraints to find the perfect solution, while also meeting our accessibility standards
- Know when to use established patterns and processes, and when to break them, and can properly make and evaluate tradeoffs, weighing the pros and cons for all decisions, large and small.
- Effectively pitch and articulate the data and thinking behind their work to their team and stakeholders
- Collaborate with others on the team by sharing best practices, ideation techniques, and usability principles, and provide leadership and mentorship to others on the team.
- Embrace their curiosity and feel comfortable challenging requirements, and wants to know the “why” behind everything
- Understand and embrace our core values: Transparent, Accountable, Generous, Fun, Empathetic, and Exceptional.
Requirements
- Senior level experience in UI design or related fields.
- Has completed a major redesign before
- A strong portfolio that demonstrates your senior design skills and process, including wireframes, user flows, site maps, style guides, mood boards, logos, icons, and mockups.
- Has built a pattern library before
- Demonstrated proficiency in design and prototyping tools (we work in Figma)
- Experience designing for large sets of displayed data, including data visualizations
- Strong knowledge of UI design principles and techniques, and are up-to-date with the latest UI trends and technologies.
- A proven process for communicating your designs, strategy and decisions to stakeholders and to the development team
- Understands standard research methods like usability testing, interviews, and data analysis, and knows when their work may benefit from these research methods
