Job Title:Hitting Strategist
Department:Player Development
Reports to:Director of Player Development
Status:Full-Time
Primary Objective: Support and collaborate with the Player Development, Analytics and High-Performance Departments, in all facets of hitting, including, best practices, industry trends, practice design and relevant technologies.
Essential Functions:
- Consistently communicate with High-Performance, Analytics and Player Development staff to ensure the quality of hitting development, techniques and trends throughout the organization
- Assist in creating detailed Player Plans for all hitters in the organization, as well as ensuring these initiatives are being met to a high standard on the daily basis
- Ensure the Seattle Mariners are up to date in the industry’s best practices, techniques and technology
- Assist in managing the daily activities, related drills and scheduled work sessions for all hitters and hitting coaches during minor league spring training and other Player Development camps
- Collaborate with the Mariners scouting department in all areas of player acquisition, including, the Draft, Minor League free agency and trade targets
- Collaborate with trainers, strength and conditioning, and baseball ops personnel to ensure the quality of player development initiatives at all levels
- Maintain a deep understanding of biomechanics, kinematic sequence and how it pertains to the swing
- Assist in the collection and management of data and information captured by all Mariners resources
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree is preferred, relevant experience will be considered in lieu of formal education
- Spanish speaking skills a plus

- Maintains an expert knowledge of relevant technologies and Mariners portals
Physical Activities and Working Conditions:
- Required to travel to affiliates throughout the organization
- Attend and assist with pre and/or postseason camps as assigned by the Director of Player Development
