ITCON Services is seeking to hire a motivated and knowledgeable Senior Cloud Engineer - Azure that has enterprise-level experience with Azure services (such as Virtual Machines, Azure Storage, Scale Sets, Virtual Network, Gateways, Traffic Manager, etc.) to join our team. This role will help the team select technologies, implement the architecture, and stand-up the various environments. The support and management of all these applications will be owned by this role from the perspective of patching, scalability, configuring, and expansion with new services as they become available.

Defining implementation architectures, developing a deep expertise in the Azure technologies as well as broad know-how around how applications and services are constructed using the Azure platform, and helping drive automation & integration aspects around the respective technologies

Additionally, the ideal applicant will participate in technical design and mentor the junior team members. This role has the opportunity to learn from, collaborate with, and educate some of the brightest technical minds in the industry today across the breadth of enterprise architecture.

The Senior Cloud Engineer must have expertise with Microsoft Azure and will include but not limited to the following:

  • Owning the technical engagement and ultimate success around specific implementation projects
  • Define and implement Azure cloud-based solution architectures
  • Help monitor Azure cloud-based systems for availability, performance, reliability, security, etc. using tools like Azure Monitor, Azure Log Analytics, Azure Trusted Advisor, Science Logic, Dynatrace, AppDynamics, or similar
  • Utilize automation tools such as Azure Resource Manager (ARM), Terraform, Ansible, or similar
  • Assist with upgrading, installing, and configuring monitoring solutions for Azure IaaS Windows and Linux servers and PaaS services like Azure SQL
  • Install operating systems and application software in cloud compute environments
  • Maintain cloud network configurations and network diagrams
  • Report on current infrastructure status and planning for future usage
  • Help automate the management and enforcement of policies using Azure Policies
  • Advise on cost optimization for current infrastructure
  • Scanning and analyzing Information Systems for security vulnerabilities
  • Reviewing scan reports to determine remediation path
  • Working with the project teams to implement vulnerability remediation
  • Assisting with Tracking and resolving POAMs on time
  • Producing actionable; risk-based reports on security assessment results
  • Training and mentoring junior team members
  • Assisting with vulnerability remediation when necessary
  • Assisting in developing necessary documentation to secure Federal System ATO
  • Design, develop, and recommend integrated security system solutions that will ensure proprietary and confidential data and systems are protected
  • Provide technical engineering services for the support of integrated security systems and solutions
  • Interface with clients in the strategic design process to translate security and business requirements into technical designs
  • Configure and validate secure complex systems, tests security products and systems to detect security weaknesses. In addition to technical tasks, the candidate will be responsible for mentoring junior team members, contributing to technical solutions across multiple projects, and providing input on technical proposals.
  • Assist in selecting, implementing, and tuning continuous integration (CI) and continuous deployment (CD) technology platforms
  • Implement infrastructure best practices customers in areas such as CI, CM, performance, scalability, security, and availability

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • BA/BS Degree in Engineering, Computer Science or a related field. Industry certifications preferred.

  • 8+ years of hands-on experience managing large scale, production Windows environments
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience and deep working knowledge of Microsoft Azure
  • Exposure to Windows, Linux, MacOS and Network Security
  • Outstanding understanding on Cloud VM and Server technologies, including management of services across a hybrid-cloud environment
  • Ability to facilitate the process of gathering requirements and providing alternative cloud infrastructure architecture options
  • Keen focus on customer service and an understanding that technology solutions must provide business value
  • Ability to work as a self-starter with the ability to bring innovative ideas to improve customer delivery
  • Ability to communicate in a clear and efficient manner in a team environment
  • Build automated processes using well-known languages and frameworks such as PowerShell, CLI, python, YML, JSON, Puppet, Jenkins pipeline, Terraform, Azure Templates, Cloud Formation
  • Outstanding understanding of application, server, and network security and compliance requirements
  • Experience in capacity monitoring and trend analysis
  • Familiarity with the interworking of Web applications and relational databases
  • Experience with setup of Disaster Recovery and High Availability
  • Ability to do proof-of-concepts for server, storage, network, and security technologies to support the cloud infrastructure
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work efficiently across internal and external organizations.
  • Hardworking, result oriented with outstanding problem-solving skills
  • Azure Solution Architect certification is a plus!
Desired Skills and Qualifications
  • Previous Federal Government experience
  • Demonstrated expertise in Azure cloud technologies and services
  • Experience designing and developing Azure computing infrastructure, data implementation, networking implementation, security and identity solutions, and solutions by using Azure platform services
  • History of performing hands-on Azure work to solve complex technical problems
  • Experience implementing secure and scalable Azure cloud architectures
  • Azure PowerShell or similar scripting experience
  • Experience implementing and managing DevOps pipelines for cloud-based workloads
  • Experience to work in AGILE environment
  • Ability to work on a team as well as independently to achieve team goals
  • Experience in developing documentation
  • Experience with AWS environment and certifications is a Plus.
