CE (Continental Europe) Financial Controller

Location: London

The Role       

  • Responsible for the Mainland Europe finance reporting and management accounts, including relevant metrics and variation analysis; present reports to senior executives (based in London, Berlin and Netherlands)
  • Ownership of monthly reporting packages and financial processes
  • Manage the CE finance team (currently a team of 2 based in London)
  • Manage the cashflows in the CE corporate accounts
  • Preparation of CE tax work, such as VAT, and CT questionnaire
  • Audit planning and coordination with local auditors
  • Statutory account preparation for CE entities (IFRS & Local GAAP)
  • Support FP&A for departmental budgeting & forecasting
  • Ongoing automation and efficiency projects
  • Ad-hoc project work
  • Periodic travel to Germany and the Netherlands will be required 

The Candidate

  • 5+ years’ experience post qualification with previous experience in a GL accounting role
  • Experience of multi-geography consolidations
  • German speaking and have previously worked in financial services in Germany
  • Worked in the peer to peer lending industry (business rather than consumer)
  • Detailed knowledge of the German and Dutch banking systems, German treasury procedures and German VAT and tax systems
  • Proficient in using Netsuite and other packages such as Tableau and Barclays.net 
  • Experience as an external auditor preferred (chartered accountant) as there will be interaction with both external and internal auditors 
  • Very strong initiative and willing to question the status quo
  • Excellent communication and managerial skills and proven previous ability to present financial information to Leadership Teams 
  • Strong attention to detail with exceptional organisational and numerical skills
  • Previous management experience; comfortable with running 360 feedback processes and goal setting
  • Honesty and discretion when handling confidential financial information
  • A team-player, who can take responsibility and work with a high level of autonomy
