Environmental Health & Safety Manager

I. Position Purpose
This position manages the development, implementation, and maintenance of environmental compliance policies, procedures, and programs. Ensures compliance with current local, State and Federal environmental regulations and regulatory agencies. Develops and implements the management plan for tracking and disposal of hazardous materials, as well as responds to safety incidents.

II. Duties & Responsibilities
• Ensures compliance with DEQ, EPA, and other government environmental regulations and contractual requirements.
• Audits Company facilities, policies and procedures for compliance as needed.
• Conducts weekly facility inspections for hazards and noncompliance.
• Prepares reports and postings required by laws/regulations and certifies accuracy of reports.
• Maintains and updates as necessary all manuals, plans, procedures, policies, training, and other documents related to the environmental program.
• Oversee disposal of hazardous waste, including tracking to ensure proper disposal methods are followed.
• Provides training to employees and management on environmental topics.
• Selects and maintains inventory of spill response and control supplies.
• Supervises hazardous material accumulation areas and cleaning equipment.
• Ensures containers are properly labeled for contents.
• Manages regulatory inspections, as well as implement corrections if needed.
• Acts as Safety Management System Administrator.
• Attend’s “SAT” Safety Action Team meetings.
• Assists with creating the monthly safety newsletter.
• Responds and investigates environmental related safety issues reported via the “SMS” Safety Management System.
• Work collaboratively with other Safety members on projects or as needed.
• Assist training employees and management on internal safety systems.
• Assist medical or other screening compliance as needed when it pertains to environmental or chemical hazards.
• Maintain and audit the SDS manuals.
• Other duties as assigned.

IV. Minimum Qualifications
• Environmental safety certification preferred.
• Bachelor’s Degree in related field preferred.
• A minimum of 3 years directly related experience required.
• Experience conducting safety inspections, audits and investigations required.
• Certified Safety Professional “CSP” certification preferred.
• OSHA30 preferred.
• Valid Driver’s License and ability to travel between facilities required.
• Occasional travel outside the local area may be required.
• Ability to communicate frequently via phone, email, instant message, video conferencing (Teams).
• Ability to work in various environments. Example: outside, manufacturing floors, machining areas, near aircraft, inclement weather, various heights and traditional office environment.
• Ability to bend, crouch, climb and other physical movements that may be needed to evaluate a safety incident.
