Content Update Editor, Parents

Editorial/Content United States

About Your Role:
As a contract Content Update Editor for Parents, you will join our Quality Team, a team of remote editors, producers, and fact checkers who work on our sizable library of existing articles to improve the reader experience, drive additional traffic, and ensure the accuracy of all of our content. Update editors may revise outdated information, polish dull or error-ridden copy, and expand text to ensure articles are detailed and comprehensive. We are specifically looking for editors to help us on a temporary basis, on a project which we expect to last for three to six months.
The rate for this role is $30/hour, and we are looking for candidates who can commit to 20-40 hours a week. Applicants must live in the United States or Canada.
 About Your Contributions:
  • Review existing articles on a variety of parenting and health topics, and revise content in accordance with project instructions
  • Identify and update outdated material, including noting where visuals or videos are outdated or no longer accurate
  • Identify opportunities to proactively improve content by rewriting, summarizing, restructuring, strengthening sourcing, incorporating visual elements, filling coverage gaps, and more
 About You:
  • You have a strong background in health, medical, or parenting editorial, with current industry knowledge. You understand the nuances in health content and the need for strict standards of accuracy.
  • You’re able to easily adopt an established brand voice, and you adhere to strict brand and style guidelines like a pro.
  • You’re a great editor, detail-oriented, a grammar wiz, and consider yourself “nit-picky” at times. You know the difference between an en-dash and an em-dash.
  • You’re comfortable working in a content management system and can work quickly, independently and accurately.
  • You are comfortable working remotely.
  • Copy editor experience at a digital and print publication a plus.
