Blue Nile is seeking a passionate and talented Data Analyst who will drive the company’s efforts to maximize sales and margin through effective promotions strategies. The Data Analyst, Promotions will report to the Director of Strategic Merchandising. You will provide business data analytics to the Merchandising Team and help translate business questions into hypotheses and analyses. Develop insights and develop your recommendations. You hopefully enjoy exploring data, learning and applying new statistical analysis techniques, and presenting your work in a clear way.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Analyst with a specific focus on promotions: develop statistical analysis to optimize markdown timing, depth, and impact on revenue margin and volume uplift
  • Analyst will create reporting and business analyses to report out promotional performance
  • Recommend test and learn strategies to improve promotional performance
  • Develop and refine regression model to pinpoint drivers of promotion
  • Develop models to inform promotional mechanics and slotting of the promotional calendar:
    • ROI analysis and recommendation for phasing and depth
    • Assortment level insights and recommend product categories and timing of promotions
    • Inform promotion mechanics

 

Qualifications/capabilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (computer science, economics, statistics, applied math, etc.)
  • 2+ years full time experience in an analytically based function (e.g. quantitative marketing, analytics)
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to think broadly, refine questions and develop analytical frameworks that drive to key insights and business recommendations
  • Sense of pragmatism and business judgment to ensure insights and recommendations lead to execution, action and impact
  • Experience with SQL and business intelligence tools (Tableau preferred)
  • Effective at communicating insights from data analysis
  • Familiarity with statistical programming languages and packages (SAS, SPSS, R, Python)
  • Strong attention to detail, along with organization and time management skills
  • Self-starter who desires to discover trends and find actionable information
  • Ability to take initiative and act independently
