ABOUT THE ROLE

As a key member of the Accounting Team, the Senior Accountant will assist with all accounting and reporting activities for the Company’s corporate & brokerage segments. You will help in the execution of our financial reporting, maintain a system of accounting records, maintain controls to mitigate risk and support process improvement initiatives. You will need to be comfortable in a high growth, high velocity environment and aren't afraid to roll up your sleeves alongside your peers.

 RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Actively participate in the monthly and quarterly close process, including;
    • Prepare detailed monthly and quarterly journal entries
    • Perform variance analysis and account reconciliations
    • Assist in maintenance and close of general ledger and of all subledgers
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements that are accurate and produced in a timely manner in accordance with GAAP
  • Support operational finance functions i.e., AR/AP, T&E, Compensation, Bank Reconciliations, Fixed/Intangible Assets
  • Document proper accounting methods, policies and principles to maintain and strengthen internal controls
  • Research and resolve difficult accounting and reporting issues; take corrective measures to prevent
  • Actively contribute to strategic initiatives such as financial system implementations
  • Assist in the reconciliation and integration of acquisitions
  • Work with external auditors and drive timeliness and accuracy of audit process

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 3+ years’ experience in accounting/reporting
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related fields
  • Certified Public Accountant or progressing towards certification, preferred
  • A solid understanding of US GAAP, general accounting and internal controls
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Insurance industry background a plus
