Breaking News Photographer
WRAL News is looking for a part-time Breaking News Photographer who gathers video, interviews and information from breaking news scenes on Saturdays and Sundays during overnight hours.
The individual will spend Midnight to 10a in the field monitoring scanners, source tips, social media reports and assignment desk communication. Duties will include live pictures and edited video and interviews. This person must gather information accurately and quickly while communicating in a thorough manner with the assignment desk.
Strong, experienced photography abilities and express editing skills are primary talents required for the position. This individual must be a self-starter, gathering information rapidly and looking for on-scene interview opportunities.
The position needs a competitive journalist who maintains solid news judgment and a stellar sense of live visual storytelling. Proficiency with FTP and live transmission are preferred.
Applicants must have a valid driver’s license with a safe driving record.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to work in areas and conditions that are often noisy, have many distractions, and in extreme weather. Must have manual dexterity to operate camera and editing equipment. Must be able to move quickly inside and outside on uneven, unfamiliar terrain and areas, and stand for long periods of time. Must be able to lift, carry and move with up to 50lbs in many environments including outdoors and in extreme weather conditions.
