As a Corporate Estate Gardener at Capitol Broadcasting Company, you will play a vital role in maintaining and enhancing the landscape of our corporate locations. Your responsibilities will include planting, mowing, trimming, and performing overall landscape maintenance to create a welcoming and aesthetically pleasing environment for employees and visitors. You will collaborate with our facilities team to ensure our outdoor spaces are not only beautiful, but also sustainable, and well-cared for. This position is perfect for someone who is passionate about horticulture and takes pride in creating inviting green spaces.

  • Landscape Maintenance: Perform regular maintenance of lawns, gardens, and landscaped areas, including mowing, trimming, edging, weeding, and mulching. 
  • Plant Care: Plant, water, fertilize, prune, and care for trees, shrubs, flowers, and other plants. 
  • Groundskeeping: Ensure walkways, parking areas, and other outdoor spaces are clean, safe, and well-maintained. Remove litter, debris, and leaves regularly. 
  • Seasonal Tasks: Handle seasonal gardening tasks such as planting annuals, aerating lawns, and applying snow and ice removal during winter months. 
  • Pest and Disease Control: Monitor plants for pests and diseases and apply appropriate treatments to protect plant health. 
  • Irrigation Systems: Maintain and repair irrigation systems to ensure efficient watering of landscaped areas. 
  • Equipment Maintenance: Operate and maintain gardening equipment and tools in good working condition. 
  • Safety Compliance: Follow all safety guidelines and procedures to ensure a safe working environment. 
  • Project Assistance: Assist with special landscaping projects and initiatives as needed. 
  • Customer Service: Interact professionally with employees and visitors, providing excellent customer service and addressing any landscape-related inquiries or concerns. 
  
Required Qualifications:  
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in groundskeeping, gardening, or landscaping. 
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent; formal training in horticulture or landscape management is a plus. 
  • Skills: 
  • Proficiency in the use of landscaping equipment and tools. 
  • Knowledge of plant care, pest control, and irrigation systems. 
  • Strong attention to detail and a passion for maintaining high standards of landscape aesthetics. 
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. 
  • Good physical stamina and the ability to perform strenuous tasks in various weather conditions. 
  • Certifications: Relevant certifications in horticulture or landscaping are advantageous. 
  • Licenses: Valid driver's license required.
