Position Intro:
Our paid summer internship program at Capcom USA offers practical, hands-on Communications experience to lay the groundwork for a future career in the video game industry or Communications field.  
 
Working closely with both the Public Relations Manager and the Social Media & Community Manager, the intern will learn the basics of Communications within both Public Relations and Social Media/Community disciplines and will shadow Capcom’s team of communications professionals as they interact with media partners, content creators, first-party partners, internal business units, and other relevant campaign stakeholders.  
 
The internship will involve assisting the Capcom USA Public Relations and Social Media & Community teams through administrative support of video game promotional campaigns, while also working with cross-functional groups.  
 
In this highly impactful assignment, the intern will work on a mix of actual deliverables while building professional skills and networks for a possible career in the video game industry.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Support the Public Relations Manager and Social Media & Community Manager with daily Communications team operations, campaigns, and launches.
  • Conduct video game industry research and prepare reports to highlight trends, discussion points, and cultural moments that are unique and interesting that would benefit Capcom’s Public Relations and Social Media campaign strategy.  
  • Conduct a competitive research study on other titles/genres within the industry. 
  • Support the Public Relations and Social Media & Community teams’ respective Capcom Creators program duties.
  • Participate in weekly meetings with industry partners and Capcom internal teams. May be requested to take meeting minutes and provide summaries with action items.
  • Provide support to Communications team by drafting media alerts, press releases, social posts, or participating in livestreaming, video recording, along with event planning & coordination.
  • Provide event support for potential Capcom summer events.
  • Other tasks/projects as assigned.
 
Minimum Qualifications:
  • The ideal candidate is pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, English, Video/TV Production, or another related field.
  • Familiar with Microsoft Windows and proficiency with Microsoft Office Tools (Email, Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Strong desire to learn how the Public Relations and Social Media & Community segments of the video game industry operates, including the intricacies of working at a Japanese multi-national corporation (MNC).
  • The ideal candidate has a keen interest in the interactive entertainment industry, follows video game news websites, and watches game-focused content creators.
  • Knowledgeable about industry brands; notably Capcom.
  • Solid understanding and familiarity of social media platforms such as Twitter/X, Instagram, TikTok, Twitch, and YouTube.
  • Energetic attitude with enthusiasm for the opportunity and willing to engage with internal and external partners.

  • Basic knowledge of Photoshop, video editing, etc. is a plus
  • Familiarity or knowledge of video game console or PC hardware is a plus
NOTE: The aforementioned experiences listed may be obtained through a combination of your schoolwork/classes/research and/or relevant previous job and/or internship experiences. This is a short-term, entry-level, temporary position expected to last 10 weeks and be compensated accordingly.

Work is generally performed in a hybrid-office environment with 3 days in the office where noise level is usually moderate or WFH (work from home) as agreed and set between the intern and manager or managers. Salary: $25 per hour
