Project Manager

Position Title:Project Manager

Position Summary:
The Project Manager will be responsible for managing the execution of BESS projects from Limited Notice to Proceed activities through to Final Completion. This will include managing and coordinating all related activities with various stakeholders including internal departments, the client/owner, equipment vendors, EPCs, general contractors, and various subcontractors to provide a ‘turn-key’ BESS project. A significant amount of project management and EPC construction experience is required, along with demonstrated influence, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the execution of one or more cross-functional projects of medium to high complexity (quality, scope, schedule, cost, communication, resource issues, risks, and customer satisfaction).
- Serve as the primary point of contact by establishing, maintaining, and managing customer, subcontractor, and joint venture partner (where applicable) expectations regarding project performance.
- Assemble project plans, assign teamwork, direct and monitor work efforts, identify resource needs, perform quality reviews, and escalate issues related to functionality, quality, and timelines.
- Coordinate communication across the organization impacting the scope, budget, risk, and resources.
- Assess the need for additional staff or consultants and recruit as needed during the project cycle.
- Determine the frequency and content of status reports from the project team, analyze results, and troubleshoot issues.
- Define project success criteria and disseminate them throughout the project life cycle.
- Coach, mentor, motivate, and supervise team members and contractors, encouraging accountability.
- Build and grow business relationships vital to project success.
- Conduct project post-mortems and create recommendation reports to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements.
- Develop best practices and tools for project execution and management.
- Ensure all environmental, health, and safety policies and procedures are followed.
- Complete other duties and projects as assigned.
LNTP:
- Support Sales and Application Engineering teams with due diligence of storage project opportunities.
- Work with in-house system designers and subcontractors to prepare project-specific system design plans that account for customer site considerations and local codes and regulations.
- Assist in estimating project costs and developing project schedules.
- Prepare, negotiate, and manage surveying, geotechnical, or other work scopes to support project execution.
- Develop and manage project requirements, responsibilities, request for proposals, and procurement recommendations.
- Support commercial and legal teams in preparing and negotiating EPC contracts.
Engineering:
- Prepare, negotiate, and manage design engineering contracts.
- Manage construction permitting activities and ensure all necessary permits are obtained.
- Schedule due dates for drawings, specifications, software, technical manuals, and other documents.
- Direct and support the Project Engineer in leading engineering activities.
Procurement and Construction:
- Oversee project execution to ensure systems are installed per plan and technical installation errors that might reduce performance or lifespan are avoided.
- Develop full-scale project plans and associated communications.
- Identify and manage project dependencies and critical paths.
- Manage project expectations with team members and stakeholders.
- Delegate tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnel.
- Direct and support the Project Coordinator in day-to-day project management activities.
- Identify and resolve project team issues and conflicts.
- Proactively manage scope changes, identify potential crises, and devise contingency plans.
- Monitor project status to ensure documentation is submitted on time.
- Review and verify project documents for completeness, format, and compliance with contract requirements.
Quality and H&S:
- Ensure that site construction activities adhere to safety requirements and construction protocols.
- Coordinate supplier quality audits in collaboration with Procurement and Quality teams.

- Review and verify project documents for completeness, format, and compliance with contract requirements.
Reporting:
- Report project status and performance data to management, project sponsors, and stakeholders as required.
- Promote transparent communication and the use of company project management tools.
- Collaborate with execution team leadership to implement advanced project management tools.
- Maintain and report monthly project budgets and payment statuses.
Requirements:
- Engineering (Electrical or Mechanical) degree or diploma.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience managing construction projects, preferably in utility-scale renewable projects.
- Strong negotiation, facilitation, risk management, and consensus-building skills.
- Knowledge of general and national codes, medium voltage power systems, and photovoltaic or energy storage system applications.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact professionally and influence executives, managers, and subject matter experts.
- Proven ability to prioritize, manage multiple projects, and execute in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with a strong ownership mentality.
- Expert knowledge of creating business requirements, work plans, project schedules, and associated project artifacts.
- Professional-level proficiency with project management tools (e.g., MS 365, Microsoft Project).
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to travel up to 50% domestically as needed per project.
- Ability to work successfully both independently and in a team environment.
- Demonstrated professional appearance and conduct.
- Work is performed in a standard office environment, involving sitting, bending, standing, walking, typing, and reaching.
