The Impact You Will Have

The Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) will be responsible for providing subject matter expertise and consultation to the business.  With a unique ability to tailor HR solutions to enable accomplishment of business objectives, you will engage directly with our operational teams to understand their desired outcomes, assess and recommend insightful and effective solutions.  You are a results driven change management leader that advances the HR Strategy through strong support to our customers and client groups.

As a key member of the HR team, you will be the first point of contact for supporting and resolving employee/labour relations issues, implementing HR programs, policies and procedures, training and development, as well as involvement in the process of mergers and acquisitions.  You will drive a continuous improvement mindset.

What you will do:

  • Build effective relationships with internal clients to understand their business goals to proactively identify and implement solutions in line with their strategy
  • Coach and advise Managers on complex and diverse employee relations issues (i.e. performance management, attendance management, disability management, workplace investigations, employee exits), including compiling and preparing evidence to support appropriate recommendations.
  • Take an active role in monitoring employee engagement and retention and implement sustainable practices to improve.
  • Assist with our departmental transformation and growth through continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Recommend new approaches, policies and procedures to implement continual improvements in efficiency of the department and services performed.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of organizational programs and initiatives in all areas of HR
  • Facilitate Human Resources training programs including Progressive Discipline, Coaching for Performance, Supervisory Leadership, etc., following up to ensure training objectives are met.
  • Communicate and assist with the development of objectives for semi-annul and annual performance reviews.
  • Provide subject matter expertise in labour relations management activities such as grievances, collective bargaining and collective agreement interpretation.
  • Manage various HR projects related to the HR strategy as assigned.
  • Maintain and foster relationships to enable collaboration with all levels of the organization ensuring a high level of customer service is provided.

 

What You’ll Bring

  • 5+ years’ experience as an HRBP
  • Bachelor’s Degree/Certificate in Human Resources, Industrial Relations or a related discipline or equivalent experience
  • Human Resources Certification – CHRP, CPHR, and/or CHRL
  • Excellent leadership qualities, leaving a lasting and positive manager and employee experience
  • Demonstrated ability to accommodate a high level of change and adapt accordingly
  • Strong knowledge of HR best practices, trends, and solutions
  • Strong communication and presentation skills (verbal and written)
  • In-depth knowledge of business strategy and operations
  • Collaborative conflict resolution experience
  • Highly self-directed with ability to manage ambiguity
  • Previous experience conducting workplace investigations or engaging in similar activities with transferable skills
  • Must work well in a fast–paced and ambiguous environment with the ability to manage various tasks simultaneously and work with changing priorities
  • Demonstrated negotiating and influencing skills, with the ability to exercise sound judgment in problem resolution
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills, the ability to influence decisions is required
  • Ability to work with senior leadership to implement effective change management processes
  • Demonstrated professionalism and ability to maintain confidentiality, high standards of ethics and integrity
  • Ability to develop and maintain relationships with all levels of the organization
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Canada Labour Code (CLC), Human Rights, Accommodation, etc.
  • Ability to travel to and from Operational Locations (10-30% travel)
  • Transportation experience/knowledge an asset
