Position Summary

Reporting to the Safety & Compliance Manager, The Safety Supervisor will be responsible for duties such as applicant screening, road safety training, compliance audits, and necessary paper work and record keeping.

 

Location: 490 Lucas Avenue, Winnipeg

 

Schedule: Monday to Friday 8 - 4

 

 

What you will do

  • Conduct new hire orientations

Conduct on road evaluations

Conducting one-on-one coaching with drivers during scheduled runs

performing ride a longs and Job Site Observations (JSO’s)

Mentor and train drivers on the various accounts, equipment, policies & procedures within the company

Performing pre/post trip inspection and written driver evaluations

Accurately documenting and addressing training progress and problems

Safely and efficiently inspect, operate and maintain company and customer issued equipment in accordance with Transport regulations, TSA, CTPAT/PIP, company and customer policies and procedures

Provide Classroom training for Orientations, Customer’s Requirements and National Safety Code related courses

This position will involve fieldwork with driver interactions and observations, site visits and assessments, Incident and accident investigations and response

Conduct hazard / risk assessments, incident /claims investigations and perform other safety and compliance duties as required

Practicing, supporting and enforcing safe work procedures including safety and company policies

Responsible for direct front-line supervision and support to Drivers in regards to compliance with applicable safety policies and regulations

Recommend solutions to issues, improvement opportunities or new prevention measures

Emergency first responder – Attend and provide direct response to emergency situations including the completion of accurate accident/incident summary reports and other official documentation

Other duties as required

 

 

What You’ll Bring

  • Valid Class 1, driver’s license and have a clean Commercial Drivers Abstract, within 30 days

3 to 5 years of tractor-trailer driving experience and Preventable Accident free for a minimum of three (3) years required

2 years supervisory experience an asset

Able to drive manual transmission vehicles (up to 18 Speed)

Strong leadership skills

Knowledge of Van, Flatbed, Logging and Transportation of Dangerous Goods an asset

CTSC / CTSP designation an asset

Proficient computer skills

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Good organizational skills and attention to detail

Excellent oral and written communication skills

Effective time management skills

Ability to remain calm under demanding conditions

Ability to train, evaluate and manage drivers and warehouse employees

Maintain training documentation based on regulations and company policies

First Aid Certification an asset
