FINANCIAL ANALYST

We are currently looking to add a full-time Financial Analyst – Fleet. Someone who is equally passionate about serving the community and achieving operational success alongside our dedicated and loyal employees.

Located in Mississauga and Part of the Financial Planning and Analysis team, this role will support Operations and Fleet in managing two of the largest expenses of the company - fuel and equipment maintenance. The goal is tighter controls, consistent processes and more in-depth analysis contributing to cost savings in the fuel and maintenance expense lines.

 

The Specific Role Mandate includes:

  • Assist in developing and implementing systems to continuously monitor fuel efficiency of power equipment in connection with Operations and Fleet/Maintenance teams
  • Consolidate and analyze all fuel transactions.  Provide various spending reports to management highlighting exceptions and large week over week variances
  • Explain financial MoM variances in fuel expense and fuel surcharge revenue. Analyze fuel spend to capture less efficient fuel purchases not capitalizing on optimal price
  • Ensure operational user have appropriate access to fuel accounts; monitor card and account level controls
  • Report on Idling, MPG and compliance related metrics to drive improvements in productivity
  • Manage Power BI dashboards providing crucial KPIs and metrics to help Operations more efficiently manage their business
  • Analyze garage spend by truck and trailer make/model, customer and type of maintenance to report trends and issues to management
  • Create and analyze maintenance reports by shop location, garage techs and 3rd party vendors, highlighting shops and techs that are not meeting efficiency targets
  • Assist with creation of annual Maintenance budget model and co-ordinate monthly financial results call.  Explain variances and trends along with the Fleet Team
  • Highlight equipment over or under the expected lease utilization requirements. Liaise with operators to optimize or adjust usage to meet the required utilization.
  • Create maintenance scorecard reporting for Senior Management
  • Triage and prioritize incoming ad hoc fleet requests
  • Other reporting and analysis as required

 

 Who you are:

  • Strong financial technical skills evidenced by a business degree.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to consolidate, analyze and summarize large amounts of data from a variety of sources
  • Proficiency in Excel and BI Tools with the ability to build complex formulas to support quantitative analysis, trend analysis and exception reporting
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving abilities
  • Strong communication and relationship building skills
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently
  • 3-5 years of experience in a transportation environment preferred
  • Successfully pass a criminal background check
