General Ledger Accountant
Description
Accounting is dedicated to providing accurate and timely financial data to assist in the management and safe guarding of company assets, maintaining compliance with GAAP and all regulatory filings established by State and Federal agencies, and providing supportive services that meet the needs of Cambridge Systematics. Accounting offers services to our customers with a focus on delivering exceptional customer service and providing reliable resources to aid CS in meeting all goals.
Financial Accounting and Reporting 40%
•Prepares monthly journal entries •Performs monthly balance sheet reconciliation •Assists in preparation for annual audit •Maintain assigned subsidiary ledger •Assist in assembling monthly financial statement in compliance with GAAP. Summarizes findings on monthly financial reports •Assists with used tax and property tax filings
Accounts Payable 15%
•Review and post vendor invoices• Support Staff Accountant to resolve vendor statements and inquiries •Back up for vouching the bills and processes checks in accordance with company policies •Reviews and processes employee expense reports for compliance with GAAP and FAR •Assists with monthly closing of Accounts payable and prepares related journal entries as appropriate
Timesheet Review 15%
•Review and approve timesheet corrections on a weekly basis. Develop and apply a strong understanding of the timesheet cycle and labor cost entries
Fixed Asset 10%
•Maintains Fixed Asset Ledger, computes and reviews monthly deprecation calculation, works with other departments in maintaining fixed asset tracking logs
Fiduciary Responsibility 10%
•Continuous focus on the safeguarding of company assets •Maintains confidentiality with all financial documents and sensitive company and employee information •Maintains proper filing and documentation with strong attention to detail •Accountable for knowledge of and compliance with GAAP and company accounting policy •Maintain and adhere to internal control structure
Customer Service 10%
•Responsible for developing and maintaining appropriate internal client relationships •Provide support to Project Managers • Provide support to Business Line Managers as needed
Position Requirements
• 1-5 Years of Applicable experience required
• Bachelors Degree required
• Proficiency with MS Excel and MS Word required
• This position has a requirement to work a few days per week in our Medford, MA office location.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with ADP and Workforce Now
• CPA Preferred
• Experience with lease crunching software or ASC 842
