The Planning group provides fully integrated planning and management as well as project development services for our clients. We apply our national knowledge and leadership while leveraging the strength of regional expertise to bring experience from across the country to provide an intimate understanding of our clients’ needs.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone with an entrepreneurial spirit and a passion for driving growth by providing both current and prospective client solutions that draw on the full capabilities of our firm. The Market Leader plays a critical role in setting the strategy, building our pipeline of opportunities, bolstering our reputation and championing both our brand and culture in the Southern California region with specific emphasis on the Los Angeles Metropolitan Transportation Authority (LA Metro), Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG), Los Angeles Department of Transportation.
They will have responsibility for:
- Developing a market strategy aligned with achieving overall firm goals and collaborating with senior management and cross-functional teams to execute the strategy;
- Building strategic relationships with existing and prospective priority clients and teaming partners in the region to represent the full capabilities of CS and to position for new work; and
- Leading projects across Southern California that could include transportation planning studies, software projects, travel behavior analysis and transportation system operations.
The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of experience with 5+ years of demonstrated success in growing a book of business and building a pipeline. They understand the current and emerging needs of clients in the region, and are highly skilled at positioning for, winning, managing, and delivering project work that exceeds client expectations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Business Development 70%
•Develops and executes effective market strategy that drives regional growth •Builds and maintains long-term client relationships and actively listens to their needs •Actively positions CS for key opportunities in the region through close coordination with staff throughout the company •Develops win themes, teaming strategies, pricing strategies, and technical content for all proposals in area of responsibility •Contributes to sound bid/no-bid decisions •Maintains post-delivery communication with clients to ensure long-term satisfaction and to prospect for repeat/expanded business •Participates in regional, business line, and other business development initiative meetings to identify and coordinate BD and marketing activities •Builds strong positive relationships with management, functional practice leads and senior consultants, and marketing & communications staff to develop winning proposals
Project Management & Project Delivery 30%
•Delivers all projects on-time, on-budget, and exceeds expectations of all stakeholders •Provides constructive and ongoing feedback to project team members •Provides clear direction to all project staff regarding project objectives and their role in achieving them •Develops and implements project delivery plan for each project •Updates project staffing in CS staffing program on time each month •Reviews and submits invoices and progress reports on time •Produces and delivers exceptional quality work that is thorough, polished, and reflects well on CS •Provides exceptional value-added service to project managers and/or clients and communicates consistently with internal and external team members •Actively listens and seeks to understand client or project manager needs •Meets chargeability expectations

Salary: $165k-$195k
