About the role 
  • Position: Senior Vice President of Finance
  • Job Status: Full-time
  • Location: New Westminster, BC
  • Reports to: CEO
  • Salary: $180,000 - $225,000 per annum + Bonus
As the most senior leader within our Finance team, this role will oversee the entire financial function of Primacorp Group of Companies, reporting directly into the CEO. 
 
With support from a team of Finance and Purchasing professionals, this role will take responsibility for: 
  • Developing and executing on financial strategies aligned with overall business objectives
  • Ensuring all finance-related activities are compliant with relevant regulations and governing laws
  • Partnering with the Executive Team, providing financial support and guidance as required
  • Providing expert support and timely delivery of general accounting, property accounting, budgeting, internal auditing, corporate tax planning, treasury, expense allocation, forecasting, purchasing and financial operations.
  • Interpret and analyze operating results and make recommendations for cost reduction and/or profit improvements
  • Appraises the organization’s financial position and issuing regular and ad-hoc financial and operating reports and forecasts
  • Directs and coordinates the establishment of corporate budgets, forecasts expansions costing and maintaining cash flow control; monitoring and making recommendations on banking relationships
  • Maintains awareness of general economic, business, financial conditions, industry, regulatory and taxation issues and their impact, ensuring proactive solutions and recommendations are provided
  • Oversee contract negotiation, taking a lead in major contracts and related expenditures
  • Conducts monthly P&L reviews, variance / wage analysis with regional teams
  • Prioritize continuous improvement initiatives across all financial operations in the business
  • Leads annual insurance renewal process
  • Acts as primary contact with Revenue Canada, external auditors and accountants, external legal counsel and funding providers
  • Establishes and monitors financial policies, internal controls and audit procedures to ensure proper financial management and safeguarding of assets.
  • Lead a team of finance professionals and promote a culture of high performance and continuous improvement that values learning and commitment to quality.
 
About you: 
 
To be successful in this role you will be an experienced and proactive leader with proven success in delivering exceptional financial service within a complex Company. Specifically, this role requires: 
  • Over 10 years’ experience in corporate finance leadership success gained in a similarly complex and high growth environment
  • Completion of CPA program, Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics or related discipline required. MBA degree preferred.
  • Experience managing and conducting qualitative and quantitative analysis on complex data.
  • Expert understanding of corporate accounting and financial principles and practices
  • Advanced understanding of Revenue Canada corporate taxation regulations and reporting requirements
  • Knowledge of purchasing practices and procedures and database management
  • Management skills with ability to provide leadership, direction, coaching and support
  • Advanced oral and written communication skills, including report and business writing
  • Excellent organizational skills with ability to multi-task
  • Excellent judgement, problem solving skills with ability to make appropriate decisions under pressure
  • Ability to work under pressure and maintain a calm focus during hectic periods
  • Possesses a track record of partnering with operations to lead improved and measurable operational performance
