Compensation:                 $17.00 + Full Benefit Package

 

Agency Description:     For more than four decades, Project Ninety has served individuals and families in San Mateo County through its alcohol and substance abuse treatment services. Over the years, Project Ninety has helped more than 23,000 individuals recover from the disease of addiction. Project Ninety’s services treat all individuals, regardless of socioeconomic standing, race, cultural background, education, age, or life experience. Project Ninety became a division of Caminar on June 1, 2018.  

 

Position Description:    The Facility Assistant is an entry level position in a Substance Abuse Disorders Recovery Residence for male clients under the supervision of the Recovery Residence Supervisor.  The Facility Assistant ensures that the facilities are kept clean and orderly and in good repair.  The Facility Assistant provides support and direction to clients participating in all Recovery Residence activities in a drug free, supportive, recovery environment.  The Facility assistant works with male clients who have substance use disorders, often with concurrent mental health disorders.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:                       

  • The facility Assistant is responsible for general oversight of all Recovery Residence facilities
  • The Facility Assistant supports clients in their participation in Recovery Residence activities
  • Tracks and records passes daily and compares passes against Recovery Residence activities
  • Documents Individual Care and Transition Plan, Situation Reports, and Weekly Reviews
  • Facilitates and documents Urine Analysis following designated protocols
  • Documents client information and participation in Electronic Health Record (Credible)
  • Assists clients in the scheduling of appointments
  • Provides transportation to and from outside appointments
  • Ensures meals are served on time
  • Responsible for the secure storage of client medications and makes mediations available to clients at set medication times
  • Facility Assistant coordinates with Recovery Residence Supervisor in overseeing the daily scheduling and participation of Mentors in Recovery Residence Activities
  • The Facility Assistant ensures vehicles are inspected daily and monitors mileage and routine maintenance
  • Answers phones and assists visitors in answering questions and directing questions and concerns to appropriate staff
  • Will perform other related duties responsibilities and special projects as assigned.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

  • Education – High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Certificates, Licenses and/or Registrations – CA DMV license required.

 Experience Required:

    • Demonstrated knowledge of alcoholism and addiction, ability to set priorities and carry through goals to completion, ability to work in a team environment, knowledge of recovery model concepts, and an ability to train others.  
    • Thorough understanding and experience in the delivery of services to an ethnically and economically diverse population.
    • Experience working in the substance abuse field is preferred.
  • Customer Service—manages difficult customer situations, responds promptly to customer needs, solicits customer feedback to improve service, and meets commitments.
  • Interpersonal skills – focuses on engagement, conflict resolution and de-escalation, and demonstrates professionalism. Maintains confidentiality; Listens to others without interrupting; Keeps emotions under control.
  • Computer Skills - Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment including email and Internet navigation required. Experience with Human Service Information Systems strongly preferred. Experience with web based time and attendance and staff training and development system helpful.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is required to:

 

  • Physical: Occasionally required to push/pull objects up to 50 lbs, and frequently required to lift/carry objects up to 25 lbs. Frequently required to perform moderately difficult manipulative tasks such as typing, writing, etc.  Must be able to frequently move about the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc, and sit for extended periods of time. 
  • Sensory: Frequently required to read documents, written reports, and plans. Ability to review client charts for accuracy of information at all times. Must be able to distinguish normal sounds with some background noise, as in answering the phone, interacting with residents and staff, etc. Must be able to speak clearly and understand/be understood using the English language. 
  • Cognitive: Frequently required to concentrate on moderate detail with constant interruption. Must be able to attend to a task/function for 20-45 minutes at a time. Frequently required to understand and relate to specific ideas, several at a time. Must be able to remember multiple tasks/assignments given to self and others over a period of several days.
  • Environmental Conditions: Frequent exposure to varied office and mixed (residential/office) environments.

Occasional exposure to toxins and poisonous substances, dust, and loud noises. 

  • Equipment: Frequently required to use a computer, phone, and fax machine.
  • Other: Ability to drive own car or company vehicle throughout San Mateo County, occasionally transporting clients.  

 

Special Requirements:

  • Must be able to meet and receive a criminal records clearance, as required by Title XXII, other licensing regulations, and Caminar practices.
  • Must be able to pass post offer, pre-employment medical and drug tests as required under State Community Care Licensing regulations and/or agency policies.
  • Will be required to obtain and maintain First Aid and CPR certification.
