Classification: Temporary, Full Time, Non-Exempt
Salary: $22-26 per hour

Position Summary: The day shift Facility Assistant is an entry-level position requiring utilization and knowledge of lived experience to support adults with substance abuse disorders. The position of Facility Assistant is under the direct supervision of the Administrative Manager and Program Director. This position must be available to provide clients in Substance Use Treatment and Recovery Residence Housing, with positive and supportive engagement, safety, through a wellness and recovery model. The Facility Assistant is responsible for ensuring that Recovery Residence facilities are kept clean and orderly, that clients perform their assigned duties and attend all required sessions and/or meetings, are responsible for data entry into an electronic health record and oversees the daily operation and provide supportive and education group and individual services based on lived experience.
- Assists clients in the scheduling of outside appointments.
- Provides transportation to and from outside appointments.
- Responsible for counting and recording of all controlled substances to ensure secure storage.
- Administers Urine Analysis tests.
- Perform other related duties, responsibilities and special projects as assigned.
Peer-led Support Groups: Organize and facilitate peer-led support groups or recovery-focused activities to create a sense of community and promote social connections among clients in treatment.
- The Facility Assistant will utilize Credible electronic health record to document medications, client placement, and client intake forms and drug screenings.
- Assist visitors in answering or directing questions and concerns to appropriate staff.

- Education – High School Diploma or GED required. (May be waived for special consideration based on GED completion within 6 months of hire).
- Certificates, Licenses and/or Registrations
- A drivers license is preferred but may be waived
- A CAL MHSA Peer Support Specialist Certification is preferred.
Experience Required:
- Education – High School Diploma or GED required.
- Certificates, Licenses and/or Registrations – CA DMV license required but may be waived.
- CalAIM MHSA approved Certification as Peer Support Specialist is required.
- Experience Required:
- Demonstrated knowledge of alcoholism and addiction, ability to set priorities and carry through goals to completion, ability to work in a team environment, knowledge of clinical and social model concepts, and an ability to train others.
- Thorough understanding and experience in the delivery of services to an ethnically and economically diverse population.
- Experience working in the substance abuse field is preferred.
- Customer Service—manages difficult customer situations, responds promptly to customer needs, solicits customer feedback to improve service, and meets commitments.
- Interpersonal skills – focuses on engagement, conflict resolution and de-escalation, and demonstrates professionalism. Maintains confidentiality; Listens to others without interrupting; Keeps emotions under control.
- Computer Skills - Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment including email and Internet navigation required. Experience with Human Service Information Systems strongly preferred. Experience with web based time and attendance and staff training and development system helpful.
- Must be passionate about Caminar's mission.
- Physical: Occasionally required to push/pull objects up to 50 lbs., and to lift/carry objects up to 25 lbs. Frequently required to perform moderately difficult manipulative tasks such as typing, writing, etc. Must be able to walk, stand, and sit for extended periods.
- Sensory: Frequently required to read documents, written reports, and plans. Must be able to distinguish normal sounds with some background noise, as in answering the phone, interacting with residents and staff, etc. Must be able to speak clearly and understand/be understood using the English language.
- Cognitive: Frequently required to concentrate on moderate detail with constant interruption. Must be able to attend a task/function for 20-45 minutes at a time. Frequently required to understand and relate to specific ideas, several at a time. Must be able to remember multiple tasks/assignments given to self and others over a period of several days.
- Environmental Conditions: Frequent exposure to varied office and mixed (residential/office) environments. Occasional exposure to toxins and poisonous substances, dust, and loud noises.
- Equipment: Frequently required to use a computer, phone, and fax machine.
- Must be able to meet and receive a criminal records clearance, as required by Title XXII, other licensing regulations, and Caminar practices.
- This position may require limited, occasional, or frequent driving. If required, a valid California driver license, a reliable personal vehicle, and current personal auto insurance is required by law. In addition, an MVR sufficient to obtain and maintain insurability under agency auto liability policies are all essential job requirements.
- Must be able to pass post offer, pre-employment medical and drug tests as required under State Community Care Licensing regulations and/or agency policies.
- If applicable, a personal cell phone with reliable service and a data plan to use for business purposes.
- May be required to obtain and maintain First Aid and CPR certification.
