Compensation:           $28.68 DOE + Full Benefits Package

Position Description:    Under supervision of the Program Director and/or Assistant Director, the House Manager ensures the ongoing maintenance and general program compliance to all state and federal licensing codes for residential care facilities. This position primarily provides support and assistance to clients by making sure the facility is safe, comfortable, welcoming and accommodating environment as well as by overseeing food purchasing, housing needs and support of client care.  In this capacity, the House Manager also oversees the Open Pantry. 

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

          Develop and maintain a respectful, caring, tolerant, ethical, and empowering relationship with all individuals served.

          Develop, lead, and coordinate social rehabilitation activities/groups for clients in coordination with program staff to ensure implementation of client treatment goals.  Facilitate client group meetings, as assigned by the Program Director or Assistant Director. Maintain and reconcile all receipts for activity and recreation expenses, all food and maintenance expenses and submit in a timely manner to the Program Director.

          Ensure that all client structured activities are implemented according to level of care certification requirements, and that activities outside the program make use of free and low-cost community resources. As appropriate and instructed, document client progress in official program records. 

          Ensure that the facility environment is clean, safe, attractive, and comfortable at all times.  Notify program management and then coordinate and ensure all needs for repair or maintenance of the facility.  Per Licensing standards, ensure appropriate temperatures in all refrigerators and water temperatures for sinks and showers.

          Provide and arrange for safe transport of clients as necessary/assigned.  

          Conduct all grocery and supply shopping including clients as available, on a weekly basis.  Supervise all cooking and other food preparation by clients of both lunch and dinner.  Ensure all food is handled and prepared in a manner which meets and exceeds established ServSafe standards.  Provide food handling safety training to staff and clients as appropriate and necessary.

          Maintain Redwood House Pantry and all activities associated with keeping the Pantry supplied. 

          Hire, train, and supervise Open Pantry staff including performance management and administrative responsibilities such as ensuring timely, accurate and complete timesheets.

          Ensure Open Pantry is in compliance with Second Harvest procedures and policies to distribute food.

          Oversee and assist when needed in ordering and pick-up of food. 

          Ensure Open Pantry staff record accurate documentation of open pantry participants.

          Ensure that appropriate and professional boundaries are maintained between Open Pantry worker and RWH clients and participants.

          Establish and maintain productive working relationships with funding agency representatives, referral sources, neighbors, merchants, police, and others with whom the program interacts.

          Provide planning and supervision of all special holiday and special activities.

          Provide crisis intervention as necessary.

          Participate in staff meetings and attend other meetings, as assigned.  

          Attend and participate in regularly scheduled supervision sessions. 

          Attend training events, as assigned.

          Participate in promoting a safe, healthy and clean working environment at all times consistent with applicable laws, industry standards and the agency’s own Health & Safety Program.

          Complete and submit accurate time sheets and absence reports to program management in a timely manner.

          Promote within the agency and with the general public the philosophy and practice of social rehabilitation.

          Drive own or agency vehicle to transport clients and on various errands, as required; documenting and reporting mileage according to agency procedures, so that services can be provided in a timely manner; comply with agency vehicle policy at all times.

Experience, Qualifications, Skills & Abilities:

          Must be passionate about Caminar's mission.

          High School Diploma or GED is required. Bachelor’s degree in psychology or related field is strongly preferred.  

          A minimum of 1 year full time experience or its part time equivalent working in a program serving persons with mental disabilities is required. Such experience must be in the direct provision of services to clients.    

          Experience in psychiatric rehabilitation, preferably in a social rehabilitation environment is preferred.

          Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment including email and Internet navigation required. Experience with Human Service Information Systems strongly preferred. Experience with web based time and attendance and staff training and development system strongly preferred. 

          Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality, a professional demeanor and to represent the organization in a positive manner at all times.

Physical, Environmental and Mental Requirements:

          Physical: Occasionally required to push/pull objects up to 50 lbs, and to lift/carry objects up to 25 lbs.  Frequently required to perform moderately difficult manipulative tasks such as typing, writing, etc. Must be able to walk, stand, sit for extended periods. 

          Sensory: Frequently required to read documents, written reports, and plans. Must be able to distinguish normal sounds with some background noise, as in answering the phone, interacting with residents and staff, etc. Must be able to speak clearly and understand/be understood using the English language. 

          Cognitive: Frequently required to concentrate on moderate detail with constant interruption. Must be able to attend to a task/function for 20-45 minutes at a time. Frequently required to understand and relate to specific ideas, several at a time. Must be able to remember multiple tasks/assignments given to self and others over a period of several days. 

          Environmental Conditions: Frequent exposure to varied office and mixed (residential/office) environments.  Occasional exposure to toxins and poisonous substances, dust, and loud noises. 

          Equipment: Frequently required to use a computer, phone, and fax machine.

 

Special Requirements:

          Must be able to meet and receive a criminal records clearance, as required by Title XXII, other licensing regulations, and Caminar practices.

          This position requires frequent driving.  A valid California driver license, reliable personal vehicle, current personal auto insurance as required by law, and an MVR sufficient to obtain and reasonably maintain insurability under agency auto liability policies are all essential job requirements.  

          Must be able to pass post-offer, pre-employment medical and drug tests as required under State Community Care Licensing regulations and/or agency policies.               Must obtain and maintain First Aid and CPR certification.
