The Wilder Institute/Calgary Zoo is seeking a full-time permanent Senior Infrastructure Analyst to join our IT team. Reporting to the Senior Manager, IT, the Senior Infrastructure Analyst is responsible for defining, implementing and enhancing information technology infrastructure (servers, network, security) which support the operations the organization.

What you will do:  

  • Definition, selection, design and implementation of new systems/technologies
  • Accountable for identifying, initiating, executing/implementing and supporting significant (i.e. $100k+, teams of 5+, greenfield) initiatives
  • Develop and execute systems testing and deployment plans
  • Develop Business Cases and Cost/Benefit documents for decision-making purposes
  • Monitor all technology infrastructure (server, network) and troubleshooting/resolving issues
  • Monitor Help Desk tickets, prioritizing and addressing as required, including in-depth T2 support of infrastructure and end user devices (such as PCs/laptops, tablets, mobile/wearable, kiosks, POS registers/pinpads, etc.)
  • Configure/Implement new technology as well as repair/replace existing hardware/software
  • Roll out and improve on internal processes such as Operations monitoring and SLA Reporting, Cybersecurity, Disaster Recovery, and Outage management
  • Provide mentoring and guidance to IT team

What you will bring:  

  • Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science or related technical field. Other combinations of education/experience may also be considered
  • 10-20 years experience in IT
  • Certified in ITIL, CCNA, Network+, MCSA or other server/network required
  • Working knowledge of IT infrastructure technologies, including server, network, security, cloud, storage.
  • Familiarity with Retail, Non-Profit/Public, or Entertainment sectors preferred
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including active listening, relationship building, team participation/leading.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Deadline/commitment/quality driven; dedicated to finding and implementing “best” solution
  • Customer service skills

Working Conditions:  

  • Sitting at a desk, using a personal computer for long periods of time
  • Must be willing to work a variety of hours and be on-call including weekends and evenings
  • Lifting and moving boxes with computing equipment such as servers, computers, screens etc.

The Wilder Institute/Calgary Zoo is an outdoor facility and all staff working at the zoo must be comfortable working in a large variety of outdoor conditions. The Wilder Institute/Calgary Zoo follows the advice of Environment Canada when responding to temperature and air quality issues.
