The Department
Capital Markets IT (CMI) involves technology solutions and systems used in financial markets for trading, investment, and related activities. This includes electronic trading platforms, risk management systems, market risk, counterparty risk, algorithmic trading, data analytics, and regulatory measures. The use of advanced technologies like API’s, artificial intelligence and cloud solutions are also becoming increasingly prevalent in capital markets to enhance efficiency and decision-making processes.
Role Overview
As a Business Analyst Intern, you will collaborate cross-functionally with Product Owners, Software Developers, DevOps Engineers, and Infrastructure teams to deliver impactful solutions. You will gain comprehensive exposure to regulatory compliance frameworks and data quality management business processes across the organization. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technologies in machine learning, including AWS SageMaker, AWS Bedrock, and advanced time-series modeling methodologies, enhancing your functional and technical acumen while contributing to business-critical initiatives.
Mission
As an intern, your mission is to become a valuable asset to our organization by:
- Gather and document requirements for intelligent anomaly detection systems.
- Collaborate with data scientists to define business metrics and success criteria for ML model implementation.
- Create functional specifications for AI/ML solutions that address specific business challenges in regulatory reporting.
- Support the planning and prioritization of generative AI and LLM-based solutions that enhance system diagnostics, log interpretation, and anomaly explanation.
- Develop user stories and acceptance criteria for backend services (Java Spring Boot) and frontend applications (React).
- Document data dictionaries for implementation in anomaly detection systems.
- Research and document best practices for responsible AI implementation and ethical considerations in generative AI applications.
During your internship, you will have the opportunity to:
- Understand the regulatory transaction data landscape, taxonomies, dependencies, and event sequencing.
- Create or evolve the data dictionaries to include relevant data attributes for ML training.
- Identify the need for useful synthetic features to optimize outlier detection.
- Work with Feature Owners to specify requirements to onboard more regulatory perimeters for ML training and inference. Brainstorm on data filtering, feature importance to optimize dataset for training.
- Specify the Inference pipeline behavior (batch or single trade) and its integration with dashboards.
- Specify and evolve ML dashboard to inculcate emerging users’ needs.
- Brainstorm with users and tech team to implement GenAI features to explain the ML anomaly.
Qualifications and Profile
- Pursuing Master’s degree or Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or related field.
- Basic understanding of data analysis concepts with interest in AI/ML applications for regulatory reporting.
- Strong analytical skills with ability to translate business requirements into clear documentation.
- Curiosity about emerging technologies including generative AI and their potential business applications.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical skills, attention to detail, & curious.
- Independent contributor with the ability to collaborate and work effectively within the team.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Passion for automation, standardization and best practices.
