The Senior User Researcher will work collaboratively with the product organization team to identify opportunities, set product strategy using user insights, and enable the team to innovate through a deep understanding of customer needs. They will work closely with other leaders in the organization to promote a customer-centric mindset and help the business to make informed decisions, as well as to create a best-in-class product experience that meets our design and usability standards.
 
What You Will Do: 

  • Work closely with product, design, analytics, engineering, marketing, and CX teams to define the most important research questions and have a clear POV on the most important insights needed for their success.
  • Formulate and execute effective research design activities that align with team’s goals and synthesize insights to identify opportunities, patterns, and trends that can ultimately translate into thoughtful product and service features.
  • Build and evolve Byte’s research toolkit and practices including audience research and segmentation, competitive and category auditing and mapping, customers interviews, surveys, usability testing, concept studies, workshop and brainstorming facilitation, ethnography, and lifestyle research etc.
  • Own the delivery of and best practices for the creation of research deliverables such as screeners, discussion guides, surveys, testing plans, testing scripts, personas, audits, insight reports etc.
  • Work with Product Design team to define, invent, produce, and optimize the right testing artifacts and stimuli such as mood boards, experience scenarios and prototypes.
  • Work cross functionally to ingest and augment existing qualitative and quantitative data and research
  • Articulate a vision for user research in our product development process and overall company strategy, helping the leadership team to understand how we implement a user-centric approach across our organization.
  • Ensure accountability to user insights and goals throughout the product development process and lifecycle.
  • Effectively identify, source, and manage freelance research talent or vendors when external resources are required to execute well on specific research questions.

Who You Are: 

  • 4 to 7+ years of experience in user research, 2+ years of experience managing others.
  • BA/BS degree in Computer Science, Human Computer Interaction, Cognitive Science, Experimental Psychology, other related fields, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Deep understanding of different qualitative and quantitative research methods, including when and how to apply them during each product phase.
  • Leadership experience including the ability to build and grow a team and to collaborate and influence teams to drive positive business performance and results.
  • Comfortable presenting to groups, working cross functionally to build relationships, and crafting compelling stories from data.
  • Demonstrated capability in building research capacity and thinking in organizations - advising, training, and supporting others to elevate their research quality and utility.
  • Familiarity with online research tools and comfort serving as moderator from time to time.
  • Motivated self-starter that can drive projects and initiatives with little supervision and great attention to detail and timelines.
  • Strong strategic thinking, intellectual curiosity, and love of problem-solving with a passion for driving action and making direct impact on business outcomes.
