Byte is looking for an experienced Cost Accountant to coordinate and assist with the financial record keeping, reporting and analysis of cost accounting information as required by the Controller and operating management. This role requires the incumbent to perform a variety of analytical and accounting functions including but not limited to preparation of journal entries, account analysis and financial reporting to demonstrate current performance, and assist with the financial effect of proposed operating decisions.

What You Will Do:

  • Review and development of standard costs for the current year via interaction with materials management and manufacturing engineers once new Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system is implemented.
  • Ensure that cost used in inventory valuation and Cost of goods sold (COGS) are current.
  • Ensure that the product and operations teams are properly recording and reporting ERP production data including item master, and related transactions.
  • Work with the Supply Chain team to ensure the proper tracking and recording of inventory purchases and receipts to enable inventory rollforward at each month end.
  • Prepare monthly reconciliation of perpetual inventory, goods received not invoiced (GRNI) and other Supply Chain designated accounts to general ledger balances.
  • Prepare monthly cost and financial journal entries as required.
  • Analyze, interpret, report and post monthly manufacturing variances to the ledger including spend and absorption.
  • Analyze and report monthly purchase price variance.
  • Prepare various monthly financial and cost schedules for management review.
  • Assist Controller and Assistant Controller in the coordination of the annual physical inventory (including tag control, resolving discrepancies, arranging test counts, producing and reconciling results, and accommodating internal/external auditor requests).
  • Conduct, assist and review the results of periodic physical inventory counts as needed.
  • Assist in the proper maintenance, safe-guarding, and accounting of the company’s assets including PP&E and the inventory in the plant.
  • Review, calculate and record E&O reserve. Also provide guidance and support in the reduction of E&O.
  • Understand and participate in completion of SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) compliance requirements and assist internal and external auditors by providing detailed explanatory information and documents as required.
  • Provide appropriate management with accurate and reliable data to allow for cost control and inventory management decision making.
  • Working knowledge of tools, Spreadsheet Server and/or Atlas, to obtain Financial information and develop reports from ERP system.
  • Participate and assist manufacturing operations in various analysis and review including but not limited to manufacturing reporting and efficiency improvement projects as need.
  • Remain current on policies and procedures including Corporate Finance Accounting Manual (CFAM), Sarbanes and Oxley (SOX), US GAAP, and DS best practices and ensures site compliance.

About You:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year College or university; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Certifications/Licensing:

  • MBA, CPA or CMA desirable but not necessary

Years and Type of Experience:

  • Three to Five years in cost accounting, and or related experience in a manufacturing environment.
