As a data analyst on the data services team, you’ll become an expert on the data that Byte uses to operate on a day-to-day basis, and support company growth. You’ll create data sources in SQL as well as create reports and dashboards based on the needs of the various teams at Byte. You’ll also provide support for other analysts, embedded in business units. This role will require experience with SQL, data wrangling, statistics, as well as the ability to work in cross-functional teams to drive actionable insights.

What You Will Do:

  • Master and own the analytical understanding of customer behavior and business performance
  • Find the “story” in the data and communicate insights and opportunities with executive and other internal teams
  • Perform ongoing ad-hoc analyses, build reporting infrastructure, and assist in making recommendations to optimize growth
  • Support reporting and business intelligence needs for various teams across the business
  • Work on high impact projects that improve data availability and quality, and provide reliable access to data for the rest of the business
  • Help identify gaps in our data collection/quality and collaborate with product, engineering, and business counterparts on data capture specifications

Background and Experience

 

  • BS in Computer Science, Data Science or a related technical field
  • Proficiency in SQL
  • Exposure to data modeling, ETL development, and data warehousing
  • Understanding data warehousing techniques
  • Experience with version control git/bitbucket

 

Skills Required:

  • 2+ years of relevant experience
  • Ability to think objectively and interpret meaningful themes from quantitative and qualitative data
  • Ability to build constructive and effective relationships with a broad and diverse group of business partners
  • Ability to execute on complex analytics projects where you have to determine salient questions in a complex ecosystem and present action-oriented conclusions
  • Proficiency with SQL required
  • Proficiency with Tableau, MS PowerBI or equivalent data visualization tool
  • Knowledge of statistics, specifically experimental design and analysis
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint
  • Familiarity with common KPIs, metrics, and growth experiments
  • Contribute to the broader company data culture through sharing learnings and best practices

  • Experience with Snowflake
  • Experience with dbt or similar ELT/ETL tools
  • Experience with FiveTran
  • Experience with Azure: Data Factory, Synapse, Blob Storage
  • Experience Python or R
  • Experience with Salesforce schema/models
  • Experience with Shopify
