The Opportunity

Leverage your industry expertise and join our expanding team in this Premium Accounting Technician I. The Premium Accounting Technician I is responsible for supporting customers and the processing of payments and payroll reports for various lines of insurance coverage, including workers’ compensation, commercial general liability, commercial property, and commercial auto.

Your WORK as a Premium Accounting Technician I will make a difference by:

• Apply accurate and efficient daily entry of premium payments and workers’ compensation payroll received.
• Perform daily batching and breakdown of payments & payroll and prep for imaging.
• Process daily bank deposits via remote deposit capture, this may include deposits for Claims & Finance.
• Address agent and policyholder inquiry calls escalated from the Customer Contact Center regarding cancellations, reinstatements, late notices, refund requests, check searches, premium notices, etc.
• Manage routine maintenance of accounts, such as transfers, corrections, policy balance adjustments, cancellations, reinstatements, and preparing correspondence.
• Upload ACH Forms and know how to take payments if necessary.
• Route MSR forms to Underwriting for code approval.
• Complete daily tasks including review of the processing exceptions and responding to emails.
• Route faxes from the finance mailbox.
• Log incoming overnight payments.
• Email Builders Risk reports to Underwriting.
• Review and prepare audit credits for refunding from both audit bills and Power BI.
• Process overnight mail, faxes, and other miscellaneous department correspondence.
• Handle post office returned refund checks.
• Perform write-offs/waives when necessary.

Skills to get the JOB done RIGHT:

• High School Diploma, with at least 1-3 years of high-volume receivables experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• General knowledge of general business, insurance, and accounting principles
• Strong PC skills (Outlook, MS Office)
• Strong 10-key experience
• Strong customer service focus.
• Aptitude for learning functional/technical skills.
• Capacity to work in a team setting and manage peer relationships.
• Composure in difficult or stressful circumstances.
• Strong organization and time management skills
