The Opportunity

Leverage your industry expertise and join our expanding team in this Builders Risk Assistant Underwriter opportunity. The Builders Risk Assistant Underwriter will be responsible for supporting the various underwriting functions for Builder Risk coverage. Under broad supervision, this position will be responsible for underwriting Builder Risk line of business for the underwriting lifecycle from submission through policy issuance, for both renewal and new business within limited authority.
The success of our company is rooted in teamwork, the way we care about the people we work with and serve. This hybrid role will work in our Raleigh office a minimum of two days with the flexibility of working from home three days a week.
Your WORK as a Builders Risk Assistant Underwriter will make a difference by:
- Performs underwriting analysis and documentation to determine acceptability of risk following company guidelines and standards for renewal and new business within assigned underwriting authority.
- Handles endorsement requests within delegated authority. Refers endorsements outside of authority with recommended action. Independently engage an agency to clarify the intent of endorsement or seek missing information.
- Works as a liaison to resolve issues (billing and collections, risk control, claims) within assigned territory.
- Documents assigned files ensuring completeness, compliance, and quality (correspondence, proposals, endorsements, cancellations, etc.)
- Leveraged as the first line point of contact to the producers/customers on Builders Risk account-related matters while proactively proposing growth opportunities.
- Assists in the marketing of products and services through external partners and may include agency visits.
- Expert on systems and workflows and serves as SME as needed to the ASR team.
- Keeps current on lines of business strategies, state/territory issues, regulations, and trends.
Travel Requirements
Minimal travel required.
Skills to get the JOB done RIGHT:
- Associate degree with 5 years of relevant industry experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge of Property and Casualty underwriting including products, policy processing procedures, and documentation.
- Strong time management, and analytical skills
- Demonstrate ability to work independently on multiple tasks.
- Strong capability to advise and coach others.
- Demonstrated customer service experience and the ability to interact with a wide variety of people daily in person, via telephone, and email.
