Associate will be responsible for delivering innovative solutions for industrial water treatment applications with the emphasis on water chemistry and digital solutions.  

 Essential Responsibilities

 To support Light Water Digital projects in Brazil, to innovate in the field of digital industrial applications, working closely with Buckman stakeholders to gain a deep understanding of the water industry, but also touching basis with other markets we serve, contributing to the success of Buckman’s digital strategy by collaborating with the digital team and successfully completing work on global projects. This role lies at the intersection of traditional Specialty Chemicals business and digital technology, leveraging Artificial intelligence, Internet of Things, Augmented Reality, and other emerging tools. The role includes collaboration with diverse stakeholders including sales, chemical innovation professionals and marketing and will be involved in the entire life cycle of product development, including idea generation, rapid prototyping to develop MVP candidates, product development, and commercial deployment, working with colleagues, and external consultants to identify and develop digital solutions that may involve sensors and actuators, controllers, wired and wireless networking, control logic, programming on the web, mobile and device platforms. As important, you will be responsible for validating the solution in the lab and in the field using careful experimentation.      

Minimum requirements

B.S, currently coursing the last period of under-grad school or equivalent experience in Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Chemistry or related scientific/technical field; PhD preferred. 

Intermediate English is required   – fluency is highly desireble

Experience the intersection of Digital and physical worlds in one or more of the following areas:

Developing and deploying IoT applications

Basic knowledge of sensors and industrial instrumentation, with experience in at least one area:

Industrial automation and control systems

Ethernet and serial industrial networking protocols

Pumps, VFDs and other industrial control equipment

Basic knowledge of building and programming devices with experience in at least one area:

PCB design and rapid prototyping

Embedded programming

IPC based control platforms

Strong organizational skills, self-management, and ability to work well in global cross-functional teams to identify new product opportunities

Informal experiences with IoT application processes are a differentiator.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Fluent English
  • Fluent Spanish is a differentiator
  • Currently pursuing a Masters in Chemical/Mechanical/electrical Engineering, Physics, Chemistry or related engineering / technical field.
  • 2+ years of experience managing innovation projects, working with internal and external stakeholders, vendors and other 3rd parties
  • 2+ years of experience developing and deploying industrial IoT solutions
  • Creative person, who enjoys learning new digital skills on their own. A hands-on contributor
  • A tinkerer, who likes to learn new things and digital skills on his own.

o             Participation in hackathons,

o             Participation in university competitions and projects

o             Previous internship experience

  • Desirable knowledge in project management tools aimed at software development (Jira, Slack, PlanView)
  • A propensity and competence designing bespoke sensors that suit the application.
  • Desirable experience developing and deploying digital solutions at scale in an industrial setting, with depth in more than one area:

o             Industrial automation

o             Ethernet and serial industrial networking protocols
