Position Summary

Buckman is seeking an engineer to innovate in the space of Digital Industrials applications. You will work closely with Buckman stakeholders to derive deep industry knowledge across paper, water, leather, and performance chemical industries.  You will be involved in the entire life cycle of product development, including idea generation, rapid prototyping to develop MVP candidates, product development, and commercial deployment.  You will work closely with an entrepreneurial, multi-disciplinary team of talented engineers and with external partners and be a part of a growing company with digital ambitions at the core of its strategy. 

Essential Job Responsibilities

          Develop and deploy digital solutions to solve industrial problems

          Work cross functionally with internal and external stakeholders

          Digital solutions portfolio will include; sensors, actuators, controllers, wired and wireless networking, control logic, programming and mobile/device platforms

          Validate solutions through lab and field testing, as well as, careful experimentation

          Communicate as the “Digital Translator” to customers, sales team, marketing and other related parties

          Use scientific methodologies to research and develop innovative solutions

          Use gated launch process to manage projects from concept to market

 

Essential Job Requirements

          Bachelor’s Degree in chemical/Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry or Physics

          5 years of experience in industrial instrumentation, networking, sensors and gateways

          3 years of demonstrated experience using digital solutions to solve industrial problems

          3 years of experience in deploying digital applications in the field, alpha/beta trial evaluation

          2+ years of managing innovation projects from ideation to commercialization

          Demonstrated expertise with industrial automation, controls logic, ethernet and serial networking protocols and other industrial control equipment

 

Preferred Job Qualifications

          Masters or PhD in Chemical/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Chemistry or Physics

          Demonstrated expertise in mechanical and electrical design of skids used for industrial digital offerings

          Expertise in sensor and other technology evaluations related to Industrial digital offerings.

          Experience with make vs buy decisions

          Programming experience in firmware, messaging protocols or app development

          Experience in specialty chemicals sector (i.e. pulp and paper, water treatment, oil/gas, or utilities)

          Strong communicator with demonstrated success managing complex projects. High business acumen, self-motivation, and organizational skills
