Position Summary

Buckman is seeking an engineer to innovate in the space of Digital Industrial applications. You will work closely with Buckman stakeholders to derive deep industry knowledge across the paper, water, leather, and performance chemical industries. You will be involved in the entire life cycle of product development, including idea generation, rapid prototyping to develop MVP candidates, product development, and commercial deployment. You will work closely with an entrepreneurial, multiple-disciplinary team of talented engineers and external partners and be a part of a growing company with digital ambitions at the core of its strategy.


Essential Job Responsibilities
 

  • Serves as a technical leader (software and/or hardware) on more than one digital project ensuring technical problems and challenges are resolves
  • Leads and successfully completes complex global, digital projects through the entire life cycle of product development, including idea generation, rapid prototyping to develop MVP candidates, product development and commercial deployment 
  • Completes analyses and creates key documentation (e.g. project and resource plan) to support and advance the project during the phase gate process
  • Successfully manages external partners to ensure that Buckman's digital business needs are met considering time, quality, and cost
  • Delivers expected outcomes on-time in one of these focus areas: sensor development, automation and controls, and back end development 
Essential Job Requirements

  • B.S. or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering  related engineering/ technical field plus 10 years experience - or - 
  • M.S. (or equivalent experience) in computer science, electrical engineering, computer engineering, or related engineering/ technical field plus 8 years experience 
  • Knowledge of an agile framework, understanding of software development life cycle models as well as in-depth knowledge of traditional project management principles and practices 
  • Adept at refinement, story splitting, estimation, velocity, retrospection, and other Scrum techniques 
  • Capable of planning and problem solving with product management and delivery teams 
  • Demonstrated experience facilitating meetings at multiple levels of an organization and understanding of facilitation techniques
