Position Summary
Contributes to the success of Buckman’s product supply chain by successfully leading a manufacturing operations shift team; collaborating with direct reports, leaders, maintenance, connected supply chain functions, and other stakeholders to ensure safe, environmentally responsible, on-time / in-full shipment of customer orders; identifying and implementing continuous improvements in manufacturing practices; and developing team members for sustainable contribution to our busines of delivering valuable outcomes for our customers. 


Essential Job Functions

  • Leads shift team to safe and environmentally responsible execution of manufacturing operations by ensuring all team members are properly trained in safety programs and protocols, and implement that training with consistently high operational discipline.  Recommends and implements ideas for continuously improving the safety of our operations.  Ensures team compliance with applicable ISO standards.
  • Leads shift team to produce high-quality products by ensuring all team members are properly trained to manufacture our products and implement that training with consistently high operational discipline.  Ensures team compliance with applicable ISO standards
  • Leads shift team to deliver high schedule attainment to support on-time/in-full shipments to our customers.  Allocates shift resources as needed.  Troubleshoots and resolves manufacturing issues and develops this skill in team members.
  • Leads shift team to deliver timely and accurate material movement, consumption, and production transaction data to SAP by ensuring all team members are properly trained and implement that training with consistently high operational discipline.
  • Coordinates with maintenance and other functional leaders to ensure maximum production asset availability.  Ensures safe work permitting systems are properly executed to contribute to safe maintenance activities.
  • Leads shift team in setting up their relief team for success.  Examples include process timing decisions, material staging, applicable SAP transactions complete, capturing and exchanging pertinent shift turn-over information, etc.
  • Provides frequent, useful real-time coaching to the team; reviews KPMs with associates on a quarterly basis to ensure progress and needed support. 
  • Makes learning and skill building a team priority and provides opportunities for team member development.
  • Maintains applicable administrative systems such as time sheets, time away from work approvals, etc.

 

Essential Job Requirements

  • Minimum 2-year degree from accredited college or university plus 4 years’ experience in manufacturing OR 8 years’ experience in manufacturing plus demonstrated agility with technology
  • Qualified to at least the Operator 3 level, with strong preference for Operator 4
  • Demonstrated agility with technology and computer systems
