Position Summary

The role is responsible for envisioning, creating and deploying innovative digital and equipment solutions that create value to our end customers and to Buckman.  This is an exciting and impactful role that lies at the intersection of traditional Specialty Chemicals business and new possibilities on the digital side leveraging Artificial intelligence, Internet of Things, Augmented Reality, and other emerging tools.  The role will involve collaboration with diverse stakeholders including sales, digital and chemical innovation professionals, procurement, marketing, and legal at a global scale.  Aspects of the role can involve the following:

  • Making rational ‘Make Vs. Buy” decisions on technology and establishing collaborations with external partners where it makes sense
  • Advocating for, shepherding, and commercializing digital and equipment innovation projects through the Phase Gate process
  • Advocating for and implementing digital solutions and tools to fully exploit the power of digitization to drive sales and service force productivity, enable sales and profit growth and improve customer experience. 
  • Advocating for and leading priorities to standardize, globalize, innovate on, and digitize equipment
  • Taking ownership for all aspects of digital and equipment product life cycle including ideation, development, deployment, supply, support, maintenance and end of life cycle
  • The position will report to Digital Equipment Product Manager. 

Basic Qualifications

  • B.S. or equivalent experience in Instrumentation and Control Engineering, Chemical, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics or related engineering / technical field plus 7 years relevant experience OR M.S. (or equivalent experience) or MBA in Product Management, Project Management or related management plus 5 years relevant experience 
  • Experience in Industrial IoT products and Industrial automation including both wired and wireless networking skills.
  • Experience with the Stage and Gate process, innovation in general and equipment innovation in particular including knowledge in product management functions.
  • Experience as a digital product features owner including ensuring that product components in the system are properly envisioned, scoped, developed/sourced, launched, and supported.
  • At least two years of relevant industry experience.  
  • Digital dexterity: must be a “digital native” who is comfortable using digital tools and solutions, has a basic level of understanding required to interface with the digital professionals, and has the aptitude and willingness to learn and grow in this area
  • Strong communications skills in English across all levels of the organization

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA in Marketing or M.S. (or equivalent experience) or PhD in the above areas.
  • In depth knowledge of developing and deploying digital solutions involving Internet of Things, Data analytics, etc. 
  • Prior experience in Digital or equipment marketing including tee up and execution of digital concepts, digital product life cycle management etc. 
  • Prior experience with Phase and Gate process for innovation commercialization
  • Prior experience working with or supporting industrial equipment in the specialty chemicals space
  • Experience working with global stakeholders.
