Supply Planner

Supply Chain Memphis, Tennessee Memphis, TN

Job Success Profile

Supply Planner

Location: North America

Objective of the Position

Supply chain planning works in tandem with demand planning. If an organization's demand plan indicates the need for high product volumes, its supply plan must detail the process of actually manufacturing and supplying enough of that product. Balance is key, and considerations must be made to ensure that costs are kept low while value is enhanced for the customer or end user. Supply planner also provides statistical analysis of inventory consumption, safety stock parameters and inventory replenishment as directed by the master raw material purchase plan.

Work Results & Essential Actions:

  • Collaborate closely with Demand Planners to anticipate potential implications of demand trends on supply.
  • Build various supply plan scenarios to understand the impact of alternative decisions regarding projected constraints.
  • Understand and resolve capacities and constraints (plants, raw materials etc.), and direct demand across alternative sources of supply where necessary.
  • Define inventory strategies and regularly review inventory levels across the supply chain to address excess/shortage.

  • Seek out, develop, share, and implement supply planning best practices.
  • Understand inventory impacts and future changes required.
  • Provide input to the S&OP planning process in developing inventory strategies on existing items, new products, and product phase-outs.
  • Monthly delivery of netted supply plans for manufacturing capacity review process.
  • Work closely with Sales and Operations Leadership to build and implement inventory allocation to achieve/exceed service level targets.
  • Work with the team to balance sales orders, supply orders, and on-hand inventory to build Available-to-Ship (ATS) reports.
