Position Summary: 

Principal Process Engineer, reporting directly to the General Manager of Operations, leads development and implementation of global process engineering strategy for North America, Latin America, Europe, and Asia-Pacific manufacturing sites, integrates with product technology strategy to maximize CAPEX investment efficiency, drives engineering solutions to complement profitable growth while meeting Global EHS, Process Safety, Regulatory, Quality, and Reliability objectives. The role focuses on new or retrofit process design, process optimization, introduction of new products, innovation of existing products, continuous improvement of key performance measurements, troubleshooting of plant operations, digital technologies for Manufacturing 4.0 journey, and toll manufacturing opportunities to meet business plan and strategy.  

Responsibilities: 

 
  1. Process Optimization:
  • Lead efforts to optimize highly complex existing manufacturing processes, enhancing efficiency, yield, and cost-effectiveness
  • Conduct thorough process analyses, identifying areas for improvement and implementing innovative solutions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement best practices and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
 
  1. Process Design:
  • Lead the design and development of new and highly complex manufacturing processes, ensuring scalability and cost-effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with R&D teams to translate laboratory-scale processes into viable production-scale operations.
  • Evaluate and select appropriate technologies and equipment for process design.
 
  1. Technical Leadership:
  • Provide technical leadership in the development and scale-up of new processes, ensuring successful transfer from lab to pilot plant and full-scale production.
  • Mentor and guide junior process engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and knowledge-sharing within the team.
 
  1. Project Management:
  • Take ownership of process engineering projects from conception to completion, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Collaborate with project teams, vendors, and stakeholders to meet project objectives and milestones.
 
  1. Risk Assessment and Compliance:
  • Conduct thorough risk assessments for existing and new processes, identifying potential hazards and implementing appropriate mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations, environmental standards, and safety protocols.
 
  1. Collaboration and Communication:
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D, production, and quality control, to ensure seamless integration of processes and successful product development.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, providing updates, reports, and technical insights as needed.
 

Qualifications: 

  1. Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum of 12 years of experience in chemical manufacturing, with a focus on process engineering and design.
 
  1. Technical Skills:
  • In-depth knowledge of chemical processes, reaction engineering, and unit operations.
  • Experience with process simulation software and data analysis tools.
  • Familiarity with safety and environmental regulations in the chemical industry.
 
  1. Leadership and Communication:
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to guide and mentor a team.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
 
  1. Problem Solving:
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to identify and solve complex problems.
  • Proactive approach to troubleshooting and addressing challenges in a timely manner.
 
  1. Highly Desirable Experience:
  • Master's degree in Engineering.
  • Front End Engineering Design (FEED) package and stage-gate project management experience.
  • Commissioning and start up experience of batch chemical plants.
  • Experience working with global engineering group and EPC companies.
  • Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and boards of directors.
