Position Summary
Provide leadership, engineering support, technical, and administrative direction for the R&D pilot plant facility so that new products and their manufacturing processes are developed in coordination with R&D and product management, trials are coordinated with field sales, and new products are scaled up and transitioned safely and efficiently to manufacturing.       
The role includes researching and implementing opportunities for optimizing existing manufacturing processes   
The role includes bench scale DOE reactor optimization to evaluate options prior to advancing to pilot scale (reactors up to 700 gallons)    
   
The role includes management of global Buckman product knowledge and operating procedures. Also ensures best practices exchanged between manufacturing sites
     

Essential Job Functions     
  • Effective Design of Experiment and execution of test batch plan to establish the safety and quality boundaries of each new manufacturing process implementing the principles of Design for Six Sigma.
  • Research and evaluate new manufacturing technologies for introduction to Buckman, this includes both Lab and Manufacturing sites globally, to include designing and overseeing trials using vendors’ pilot equipment
  • Safety reviews to ensure chemical compatibility, validate equipment design, and ensure safe operations, to prevent incidents and ensure longevity
  • Chemical process manufacturing procedure creation (PPP or CSOP) within PDR and PSM boundaries
  • Root cause analysis of moderately complex safety and quality near misses and incidents.
Utilize applicable statistical and LSS techniques to ensure development of robust manufacturing processes      
  • Develop full automation for new processes (sequences, interlocks, alarms, graphics, control schemes, trends, tuning, etc.)
      
Essential Job Requirements     
  • BS in Chemical Engineering; and
  • 7-9 Years of experience in chemical manufacturing or related field; or
  • Chemistry degree and 10+ years of direct chemical manufacturing experience
