- Lead strategy, development and successful implementation of global initiatives to drive process safety management (PSM) and safety culture to an acceptable risk level.
- Collaborate with Global SHE leadership to ensure alignment of SHE and Process Safety strategies, people, processes, and systems.
- Guide each operating location on elements of risk-based process safety that shall be implemented based on risk level of operations at manufacturing locations.
- Evaluate process safety implications of field installations and evaluate design and safeguards to ensure process safety is integrated with digital innovation initiatives as applicable.
- Develop process safety audit plan with 2-year cadence for evaluating implementation of 20 elements of Risk based Process Safety based on Center Chemical Process Safety. In addition, integrate Quantitative Risk Assessment (QRA), facility siting, and PHA revalidation plans.
- Lead strategies, people, and systems to address systemic gaps identified from RBPS audits.
- Establish and proactively manage key process safety performance metrics (leading/lagging indicators) to monitor and report global performance. Partner with Global SHE leadership to standardize Intelex for process safety metrics and reporting.

- Establish criteria for new product introduction to ensure process safety operational limits and the consequences of deviating from those limits are incorporated into global operating procedures and formulas.
- Ensure process knowledge, as related to process safety, on BPSM processes, is developed and stored in a manner that facilitates retrieval and sustainability.
- Develop and communicate a framework for filing and sharing process safety information relative to process safety hazards of chemistries and raw materials.
- Ensure knowledge-based decisions for safe manufacturing and storage of highly hazardous materials and chemistries.
- Collaborate and coordinate with suppliers of raw materials, as well as small industry best practice focus groups to ensure best engineering and handling practices are well understood and incorporated at Buckman.
- Lead risk analysis efforts and make recommendations relative to acceptable risk levels regarding the introduction of new high hazard process chemistries.
- Provide technical coordination for property insurance company site visits to apply global standards and help senior management understand risks, and prioritize risk mitigation actions

- Assist with development and application of RAGAGEPs for new or modified designs of equipment and processes in operations and field applications.
- Lead PHA’s on a global basis as required.
- Provide analysis and understanding of equipment failures that result in loss of
containment or spills of highly hazardous chemicals. - Participate in identification and development of best practices related to engineering designs for processes handling highly hazardous substances, ensuring global application of best practice standards are applied.
- Ensure all new or modified equipment designs, for highly hazardous substances have incorporated process hazard analysis and associated layers of protection analysis.
- Provide system to ensure P&IDs, PFD, M&EBs and other process safety information is integrated with equipment designs and operational procedures.
- Provide process safety inputs to CAPEX 5-year planning and ensure annual CAPEX plan incorporates engineering design improvements needed as identified by local PHAs/LOPAs and other risk assessments, as well as incorporation of best practices that will drive continuous improvement in risk reduction efforts.
