Position Summary
The Engineering Manager at Cadet and/or Memphis leads process integrity and upholds design intent across all manufacturing operations by serving as the site’s technical design authority. Ensure that process hazard analyses, management-of-change evaluations, and process safety information remain current, accurate, and rigorously applied—so that every change to process conditions, raw materials, or formulations is technically sound before it reaches the plant floor. Sustain long-term process knowledge, deliver independent technical challenge to Operations, and drive continuous improvement of control systems, technical standards, and operating procedures to achieve safe, compliant, and reliable production outcomes.
Key Outcomes/Responsibilities
Outcome: Ensure Safe, Compliant, and Reliable Operations
Actions:
- Establish and enforce engineering standards that reflect design intent, regulatory requirements, and Buckman EHS policies
- Actively lead and participate in process safety activities (PSI, PHA, LOPA, incident reviews), not delegate them entirely
- Ensure engineering decisions explicitly consider process safety risk, not just cost or schedule
- Partner with Operations and EHS to address audit findings, incidents, and near‑misses with permanent corrective actions
Outcome: Maintain Asset Integrity & Mechanical Reliability
Actions:
- Own the mechanical integrity strategy for critical assets (pressure systems, reactors, tanks, relief devices, utilities)
- Ensure inspection, testing, and preventive maintenance programs are risk‑based and current
- Lead root‑cause analysis of equipment failures and ensure corrective actions are engineered, not procedural only
- Review reliability trends and intervene early when degradation or repeat failures emerge
Outcome: Execute Engineering Change & Capital Projects with Discipline
Actions:
- Enforce rigorous Management of Change (MOC) for all process, equipment, and control changes
- Ensure all changes are technically reviewed, hazards evaluated, and documentation updated before implementation
- Lead or oversee capital project execution to ensure safe startup and operational readiness
- Require PSSR completion and verification before returning modified systems to service
Outcome: Lead Process Safety as a Line‑Leadership Responsibility
Actions:
- Clearly communicate that process safety is a core engineering responsibility—not a compliance exercise
- Regularly engage operators and supervisors in hazard awareness and learning from incidents
- Ensure PHAs remain living documents that drive real engineering and operating changes
- Model disciplined decision‑making under production pressure, reinforcing risk‑based choices
Outcome: Sustain Technical Capability & Process Knowledge
Actions:
- Serve as the site technical authority, preserving long‑term process and systems knowledge
- Provide independent technical challenge to Operations and Maintenance decisions
- Drive continuous improvement of control systems, technical standards, SOPs, and operating procedures
- Build technical depth within the engineering team through coaching, standards, and deliberate development
Outcome: Enable Operational Excellence & Continuous Improvement
Actions:
- Use data, reliability trends, and process performance indicators to identify improvement opportunities
- Translate operational issues into engineered solutions rather than compensating behavior
- Partner cross‑functionally to improve safety, quality, throughput, and cost performance
- Ensure engineering effort is focused on high‑risk, high‑value problems impacting site performance
Basic Qualifications
- Education Requirements: Bachelor's Degree - Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical Engineer
- Job Experience: 10+ years
- Strong knowledge of lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and ERP systems
