Postdoctoral Researcher – Haghighi lab

Postdocs Novato, California

The Haghighi lab at the Buck Institute for Research on Aging investigates the molecular mechanisms that govern synaptic function, plasticity and homeostasis, and how metabolic cues and inter-tissue signaling influence these mechanisms during aging. Our research program also explores the link between synaptic function and neuronal health and survival in models of neurodegenerative diseases. For our studies, we combine a number of different approaches including genetics, electrophysiology, imaging and proteomics both in fruit flies and mice.

For this postdoctoral position, funded by NIH, we are seeking candidates who are enthusiastic about using multidisciplinary approaches in their work and are open to working collaboratively.

  • PhD in biological sciences or a related field
  • Strong publication record
  • Applicants with extensive experience and working knowledge in electrophysiology biochemistry or genetics are encouraged to apply.

Our success will ultimately change healthcare. At the Buck, we aim to end the threat of age-related diseases for this and future generations by bringing together the most capable and passionate scientists from a broad range of disciplines to identify and impede the ways in which we age. An independent, non-profit institute located in Marin County, CA, our goal is to increase human health span, or the healthy years of life. Globally recognized as the pioneer and leader in efforts to target aging, the number one risk factor for serious diseases including Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, cancer, macular degeneration, heart disease, and diabetes, the Buck wants to help people live better longer.

Buck Institute for Research on Aging is an equal opportunity employer. Buck Institute seeks candidates whose experience and qualifications will enable them to contribute to our dedication to diversity and excellence. We are committed to building an organization that represents a variety of backgrounds, perspectives and skills. We welcome the unique contributions that you can bring in terms of education, opinions, culture, ethnicity, race, sex, gender identity and expression, nation of origin, age, languages spoken, veteran’s status, color, religion, disability, sexual orientation and beliefs.
