We are seeking a Client Accounting Manager to join our team in the RVA/Coastal Region consisting of the Newport News, Richmond and Colonial Heights offices. Preferably, the candidate’s primary office will be our Newport News office and hybrid opportunities are available.
Client Accounting Managers report to Partners and Directors. Client Accounting Managers are responsible for supervising and scheduling a team of client accounting associates, directing multiple client engagements, providing advisory services, maintaining primary client contact, billing and business development. The ideal candidate demonstrates ability to address complex accounting matters, strong technical accounting skills, accounting experience in a variety of industries, and possess strong people skills.
What your day looks like:
- Interacts with clients on a timely basis, including troubleshooting accounting and software issues and being responsive to their service needs.
- Oversees the client portfolio for the region, ensuring the highest level of service and satisfaction.
- Identifies opportunities to improve engagement profitability and assist with billings.
- Assigns staff to clients and monitors the status of work deliverables.
- Reviews staff deliverables for accuracy and completeness.
- Follows up on all opportunities and meets with prospective clients to develop estimates for accounting and consulting services.
- Participates in hiring of regional client accounting staff.
- Supervises staff, including coaching and mentoring, advising and supporting team members in meeting client and professional development expectations.
- Conducts performance evaluations.
- Provides consulting related to business management and cash flow management, including assistance with development of budgets, key performance indicators and other management reports.
- Develops accounting systems to meet client needs within our environment.
- Uses the firm’s technology stack effectively to perform job duties.
- Travels to client sites and other Brown Edwards locations as needed.
- Attends continuing professional education to further develop knowledge and skills.
What you need for this role:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
- QBO Certified ProAdvisor a plus.
- 5+ years of bookkeeping or similar accounting experience.
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of QuickBooks Online.
- Intermediate to advanced level Microsoft Office Suite experience.
- Advanced understanding of basic bookkeeping, payroll, accounts payable/receivable principles and financial statement preparation.
- Strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
- Proven ability to manage client engagements and relationships
- Ability to meet critical deadlines and handle multiple priorities
- Strong background/knowledge of business operations
- High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
