Gulfshore Life seeks an experienced Senior Editor to join our team in creating high-quality editorial content for our award-winning lifestyle magazine.

The ideal candidate is passionate about storytelling, possesses excellent communication skills, and has a strong understanding of the Southwest Florida region and its culture (we cover Marco Island, Naples, Bonita Springs, Fort Myers, Sanibel and the surrounding cities in Lee, Collier and Charlotte County. The Senior Editor works on the monthly luxury lifestyle publication, along with several special editions, which may include HOME (design pub), MINI (for young families), Gordon Drive (meta-luxury pub), Healthy Life (wellness pub) and Celebrate (entertaining pub). Experience with arts and/or home design content is strongly preferred. This is not a remote position.

Responsibilities:

●        Generate creative and engaging story ideas that appeal to our readers' interests

●        Own a beat and be the in-house authority on the subject; you'll keep up with local news, scour social media and forge strong relationships in the field (interest in arts + culture or home design content preferred)

●        Manage and oversee freelance writers, including assigning and editing content for print and digital platforms

●        Develop and execute editorial strategies that align with the brand's vision and voice

●        Work with the art department to ensure editorial content is visually appealing and engaging

●        Work with the digital team to produce original content

●        Ensure all your editorial content is accurate, informative, and well-researched

●        Represent the brand at events; attend gallery openings, performances and other art shows or events relevant to your beat

●        Stay up to date on industry trends and best practices to continuously improve content quality

●        Assist with all editorial aspects of closing the magazine, including fitting, writing display copy and proofing layouts

Qualifications:

●        Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications or a related field

●        At least 5 years of experience in an editorial role

●        Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills

●        Strong leadership and time-management skills

●        Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite

●        Knowledge of AP Style guidelines

●        Familiarity with SEO best practices and digital publishing platforms

●        Eager to work as part of a team and lend a hand to your teammates however needed

●        Preferred: 2+ years reporting on arts + culture and/or home design
