Gulfshore Life seeks a Senior Editor to join the team as we continue to elevate and evolve our luxury lifestyle publication.

 Who We Are: Established in 1970, Gulfshore Life is a luxury lifestyle magazine that covers the people, places and culture of Southwest Florida (Collier, Lee and Charlotte counties). We produce 12 issues a year, in addition to several special edition publications. Great opportunity for junior-level editors looking to carve out their niche and advance in career.

 What we're looking for: A solid generalist writer/editor type with at least 5 years of journalism experience. The ideal candidate is a curious person who is always looking for story ideas and is an excellent writer. You love to come up with new ways to package stories and always want to dig beneath the surface to get at the trends and ideas driving your sources. You are proactive, organized and deadline-oriented without needing to be micromanaged. You love storytelling in all its forms (service, short, longform, digital) and believe in the role local journalism plays in its community. Experience at a luxury publication/brand is preferred. Experience with food and wine journalism also preferred. This position is based in Bonita Springs, FL

 What you’ll do:

  • Pitch ideas, write, assign and edit section and feature-length stories on lifestyle topics (art, design, food, culture, wellness), with a focus on food (restaurants, chefs, makers, dining trends, etc.)
  • Own a beat and be in the in-house authority on the subject locally (preferably food); you'll keep up with local news, scour social media, visit new restaurants and constantly talk with relevant sources to know the category inside-out
  • Oversee the production of certain special-edition publications, such as the entertaining-related Celebrate and Salut, the Naples Winter Wine Festival publication
  • Vet story contents and ensure people and places covered fit the brand visually and topically
  • Proof layouts and assist with fact-checking and copyediting
  • Grow and manage network of freelance writers; help with hiring and managing interns
  • Work with editorial and art team to plan visuals for stories; attend photoshoots, as needed
  • Work with the digital team to produce original content and write/edit newsletters
  • Represent brand at events

 Minimum Qualifications and Job Requirements | All must be met to be considered.

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree (journalism focus preferred)
  • Experience: 5+  years of post-grad experience in publishing or editorial content creation
