Gulfshore Life
seeks a Style Editor to join the team as we continue to elevate and evolve our iconic brand.

Who We Are: Established in 1970, Gulfshore Life is a luxury lifestyle publication that covers the people, places and culture of Southwest Florida (Collier, Lee and Charlotte counties). We produce 12 issues a year, in addition to several special edition publications.

Before applying, please take a look at some of our recent issues to get a feel for our brand:

Your Role: As Style Editor, you’ll have a key role in producing the annual HOME publication; Gordon Drive, our ultraluxury annual; and the monthly home and fashion sections and related features.

You love fashion, architecture and interior design; have a sharp eye for modern design; and can identify trends and think strategically to develop stories that inspire readers. You’ll scout homes; meet with designers; frequent local shops; and pitch, write and/or edit everything from short write-ups to market pages to longform narratives. The ideal candidate is a strong writer and obsessive about reporting. You stalk your favorite designers and brands on social media and are constantly scouring design and fashion publications and sites.

Above all, you’re a team player, eager to collaborate with others, and able to work across platforms and departments to produce the best content for our readers. Experience at a luxury publication/brand is preferred.

 What You’ll Do

  • Pitch and produce (assign, edit, write) stories to run in print and online
  • Build and maintain home + fashion brand relationships; forge strong relationships between GL and architects, designers, builders and other home professionals, as well as local fashion designers and boutiques
  • Keep tabs on design trends; tour homes in search of exclusive features; develop new, creative ways to cover fashion and design
  • Stay on top of the local home, shopping and beauty beats
  • Collaborate with the art team to source photography and produce strong visuals for your stories
  • Help develop lineups
  • Fact-check and proof layouts
  • Assist with other publications and sections as needed
  • Represent the brand at events
  • Assist with hiring and managing interns

Desired Skills & Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree
  • Experience: 5+ years of post-grad experience in journalism, preferably in the home design or fashion space
  • Deep, relevant experience as a journalist, editor and editorial manager
  • Excellent writing, reporting and editing skills
  • Command of AP Style; strong copyediting and fact-checking skills
  • Strong editorial eye for style and forward-thinking design
  • Ability to balance daily deadlines with longer-lead stories
  • Organized and deadline-driven
  • Passionate about home decor, interior design, fashion and beauty
