Position Overview

As a Technical Product Manager, you will be responsible for building the next 10 years of BHS Products and Platform; if that excites you, keep reading.

We’re a startup organization within BHS, with a high degree of autonomy and uncertainty – your hands won’t be held but we’ll provide you all some resources to get your job done. We are solving complex problems by delivering strategic and technical solutions to ensure useful, scalable, seamless, and safe user experience and a cohesive business strategy.

You will closely work with internal and external stakeholders to re-envision the Customer Experience for home security/IoT products and services critical to scaling adoption, engagement and profitability throughout the customer journey. You must be able to effectively plan out and deliver capabilities with your eyes on the long vision. The role is designed for an experienced candidate who can operate with a great degree of ambiguity and autonomy and has experience in delivering product solutions into successful business outcomes. You will report to the Sr. Director – Product (also a former startup founder and engineer by trade.)

You must be a natural collaborator equally comfortable talking technology with engineers, user experience with designers, positioning with product marketers, numbers with finance and marketing, and strategy with senior leadership.

If selected for an interview, you will be asked to “simplify” a complex Customer Experience of your choice.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Aggressively cut our Time to Market for new product and technology development
  • Dramatically trim a sizeable portion of our Cost to Serve and Acquisition Costs
  • Champion and delivery exciting new Products and Services to 3x our Customer Growth
  • Think about data first, second and last; without data we only have an opinion
  • Define and execute product solutions and drive alignment on priorities up to product delivery
  • Able to create a recurring rinse and repeat model of product delivery, driving excellence of product quality, and utilizing usage data to drive down waste
  • Recruit and manage multiple full product teams through an iterative product delivery lifecycle with a primary focus on agility
  • Build or bring a scalable platform that can be used by BHS teams to drive user adoption, engagement, satisfaction and monetization
  • Understand, research, and follow technical trends in the industry and in general. Able to assess emerging products and companies to measure their potential value or threat to the company and its products, as well as make recommendations on which new technologies to invest in or leverage.
  • Understand and analyze data pipelines, algorithms, and automated systems.
  • Serve as a product evangelist and subject matter expert to the technical/developer community.
  • Be an advocate of users and markets; synthesize research, usability studies, and market analysis into detailed, crisp product requirements and clearly articulate market needs, user stories, and business value
  • Develop and drive product strategy for segments of platform, OEM, channel partners including product co-planning and enablement
  • Develop thought leadership and deep technical proficiency with home security/smart home/IOT services

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or another relevant technical field
  • 10 years of product management and/or engineering experience in technical domains

  • Experience with end-to-end product delivery, from concepts to launch – and support
  • Experience overseeing product roadmap and managing priorities/trade-offs
  • Proven cross-functional and cross-organization collaboration to build excellent working relationships and influence a variety of stakeholders including engineers, designers, consumer & market research, marketers, sales, legal, finance & operations

Preferred Qualifications:

  • You thrive in chaotic and startup like environments
  • Past experience as an Engineer, Architect, or Builder is a plus
  • Either succeeded or failed at building a B2C / B2B product
  • Experience in utilizing Cloud Native technologies and launching or migrating to public clouds
  • Experience in developing and launching responsive (React/Vue/Flutter) and PWA web applications
