Here’s what you’d do:

The Manager of Internal Audit is a role designed to help lead and support the objective of the Internal Audit function in providing independent and objective assurance and consulting services focused on ensuring an appropriate and effective system of internal controls to maintain and help continually improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the Company's operations. The Manager of Internal Audit will report to the VP Chief Audit Executive and be responsible for assisting with the management of BrightView’s Internal Audit resources, including the Staff Auditor and Senior IT Auditor, additional Guest Auditors in conjunction with BrightView’s Branch Audit Program, and the management of the co-sourcing resources (EY). Additionally, the Manager of Internal Audit will assist in the preparation and execution of the annual risk-based Internal Audit plan, including aiding IA’s coordination and review of management’s testing of internal controls over financial reporting. Day-to-day activities will be conducted in accordance with the BrightView Internal Audit Charter and IIA’s Mandatory Guidance, inclusive of the Code of Ethics. 

You’d be responsible for:

  • Assist in the preparation of the annual risk-based internal audit plan, including aiding IA’s coordination and oversight of management’s testing of internal controls over financial reporting. Facilitate the implementation and execution of the approved plan. Alert the VP Chief Audit Executive of any potential deviations in the execution of the plan or matters requiring consideration for changes to the plan.
  • Manage the day-to-day responsibilities of the internal audit team (2 direct reports), inclusive of co-sourced parties, against the approved internal audit plan and management testing schedule. Monitor the costs incurred against the approved IA and Management Testing budget and provide updates to the VP Chief Audit Executive on a regular basis. Provide leadership and coaching and development of staff.
  • Review SOX controls testing, and if necessary, provide input on management remediation plans for deficiencies identified. 
  • Consistently engage with the external audit team to execute agreed upon direct assistance or reliance model and escalate potential issues to VP Chief Audit Executive and management, as necessary. 
  • Assist in the design, implementation, and coordination of the annual Enterprise Risk Assessment and assist the VP Chief Audit Executive in documentation of the monitoring of management actions against identified risks. 
  • Identify process efficiencies and or operational audit opportunities in response to risks identified within risk assessment and execution of internal audit activities. Propose audit design and resourcing strategy to execute audits, including potential opportunities to apply data analytics and emerging audit techniques. 
  • Support requests from management for ad-hoc data analyses and reviews.
  • Partner with management to monitor the Employee Hotline, identifying trends and supporting VP Chief Audit Executive in investigations related to Tier 1 matters.
  • Provide input on the design and execution of the BVLS and BVLD branch audit programs. Perform detailed review of audit reports prepared by guest auditors and report on trends observed in audits. 
  • Assist in the preparation of training materials, management update materials, and audit committee communications related to internal audit activities and management testing.
  • Present findings and results from internal audits and reviews to various levels of management and internal audit stakeholders. 
  • Remain current on audit and governance, risk, and compliance trends, and develop a risk-based response incorporated into the annual audit plan.

           

You might be a good fit if you have:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field (e.g., business administration, finance & accounting, or economics). 
  • Active CPA or CIA license 
  • At least 5 years’ experience in public accounting and/or internal audit, and at least 1 year of management experience. 
  • Deep understanding of audit industry best practices including the use and implementation of software tools/ related data analytics and visualization tools.
  • Strong working knowledge of US GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), PCAOB Audit standards and requirements, COSO internal control framework, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Self-starter with strong initiative and results orientation; ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities.
  • Proven ability to operate with a high degree of autonomy and professionalism.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills; demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships at all levels of the organization.
  • A positive attitude, and unquestioned integrity.
